LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2024 Daily Countdown

Seasons greetings and welcome back to the Jay’s Brick Blog Daily daily countdown of the 2024 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar!

This is the big one, and counting down LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendars has been a long-time tradition on the blog, dating back to 2014, making this the 11th year running! This is something I look forward to each year, and I just love the sense of community as we congregate here and open LEGO Advent Calendars together.

If you’d like to check out previous Star Wars Advent calendars, here are the links to 2014, 2015. 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 calendars if you’d like a trip down memory lane.

This year, I’ll be counting down all 6 LEGO Advent Calendars – Star Wars, Harry Potter, Friends, City Disney and Spider-Man.

Special thanks to LEGO for sending this set for review.

To make it easier for you to check out each day’s section, as this post is going to grow longer with every new window, all you have to do is click on the Day you want, and you will instantly jump to the corresponding section.

How does the daily advent calendar countdown work?

If you’re new here, I post daily updates on each window of the 2024 Star Wars Advent Calendar. I usually post updates in the morning, but sometimes if things get too busy, updates will be posted in the evening. I’ll update this post each day, as I don’t really enjoy the practice of creating new posts for each day as it keeps it so much cleaner, so bookmark this post to come back every day!

Unlike other sites, I’m actually opening each window as I go, and I’ve been able to be relatively spoiler-free to be as surprised as I can get. All reviews, thoughts and reactions are live as we go along, there are no pre-planned photos or thoughts, unless I happen to be travelling or away from home.

Do note that I’m based in Melbourne, Australia (GMT +11) so we’re ahead of most of the world (except New Zealand) so to avoid spoilers, try to come back to this post after you’ve opened your window and built the daily model especially if you’re located in other time zones.

PS: If you’re planning to buy any LEGO for Christmas and would like to support the work I do blog, please use these affiliate links if you’re shopping on AmazonAmazon Australia or LEGO.com!

Here’s a look at the 2024 Star Wars Advent Calendar with the front flap opened that serves as a playmat to display all the models and minifigures.

It looks like we’re going back to basics this year, with Hoth being the backdrop for this year’s SW Advent Calendar!

You count upwards from 1 to 24, so don’t make the mistake of going backwards!

As always, the instructions are found on the inside of each window flap, so be gentle when opening them as you’ll need to sometimes refer to them for slightly more complicated builds!

Without wasting any time, let’s get started with the 2024 Star Wars Advent Calendar countdown!

Day 1

Day 1 of the 2024 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar starts off incredibly strongly with one of the most iconic Star Wars ships, the X-Wing Starfighter!

This one looks to belong to Luke Skywalker, evident by the blue stud representing his trusty Astromech droid R2-D2, and I like the much darker grey colour scheme here.

The prominent tan strip and grey colour scheme gives off decidedly retro LEGO Star Wars vibes, looking like the original LEGO X-Wing from 1999.

Overall, a great start to the calendar with a crowd-pleaser model that’s fun to build, and also indulges in a bit of Star Wars nostalgia. Check back tomorrow for what we get in Day 2!

Day 2

Day 2 of the Star Wars Advent Calendar is an absolute banger, and I had to double check that I didn’t accidentally open the 24th window but we get Princess Leia in a festive Christmas jumper/sweater!

I was very surprised to already see a Christmas sweater minifigure, and Princess Leia looks incredible here.

The front of her Christmas Sweater has an AT-AT attacking Echo Base, with a Snowspeeder facing it head on.

And here’s a look at the back print, which has the Shield Generators, a Tauntaun and another Snowspeeder. Very impressive amount of Hoth references squeezed into such a small footprint!

Another amazing day from the 2024 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar. So surprised to get a seasonal minifigure so early on, but it looks like they’re really confident in keeping excitement high if we’re already getting Princess Leia in Day 2!

Check back tomorrow to see what we get in Day 3!

Day 3

The 2024 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar continues to impress with a TIE Fighter on Day 3! But this isn’t any TIE Fighter, it’s a nod to the original 7146 TIE Fighter from 2001!

I had an inkling that Day 1’s X-Wing was a nod to the original wave of LEGO Star Wars sets, and today’s TIE Fighter with those unmistakable blue accents all but solidifies my theory.

2024 is a big year for LEGO Star Wars as the theme is celebrating its 25th anniversary, so it’s really fun to see these mini builds pay homage to the earliest LEGO Star Wars builds!

So far, three for three models, and now that it’s confirmed that there’s a retro element to the builds, I can’t wait to see what we get on Day 4!

Day 4

On Day 4 of the 2024 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, we get a Super Battle Droid! It’s typically customary to get a regular B1 Battle Droid in Advent Calendars, but LEGO seemed a little generous this year upgrading us to the superior B2 Battle Droid!

Update: Thanks to Matthias for pointing out, I appeared to have misassembled the arms! The shorter arm section should connect to the body.

Or maybe we will get a B1 Battle Droid later… who knows.

These heavily armoured battle droids are a staple of Clone Wars Separatist droid armies, and the level of articulation is pretty decent on these, and I don’t mind getting a different Battle Droid after years and years of the Tan B1s.

And that’s it for Day 4 so far! Great to see a Prequel trilogy minifigure and a nice change of scene from the typical B1 Battle Droids that we normally get!

Check back to see what Day 5 brings tomorrow!

Day 5

Day 5 of the 2024 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar continues to impress with one of the most iconic land-based vehicles of all, the AT-AT. Best known for lumbering towards the Rebel Echo Base on the icy planet hoth, this micro version is immediately recognisable and a fun one to build.

The proportions and silhouette of this micro AT-AT is great and it’s yet another Original Trilogy vehicle for fans to enjoy. Also a nice and timely nod to Day 2’s Princess Leia’s Christmas sweater, with the AT-AT on it!

That’s it for Day 5 so far! Leia is so far incredibly impressed with the fleet of tiny LEGO Star Wars vehicles so far! Check back in to see what Day 6 brings!

Day 6

The 2024 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar seems to be bursting at the seams with Greatest Hits, which has been nothing short of delightful each day! On Day 6, we get an excellent Y-Wing Starfighter!

Y-Wings are primarily used by the Rebels as a multirole starfighter, but is most commonly remembered for their bombing runs. It was also famously used by Anakin Skywalker in the Clone Wars, but this right here is the Rebel configuration from the Original Trilogy.

The model looks pretty good, although the proportions are a little off. I do wish that the support pylons were just a tad shorter, but it still looks recognisable and who doesn’t love a micro Y-Wing to swoosh around!

Now that it’s apparent that this year’s Advent Calendar is the Greatest Hits of Star Wars, I can’t wait to see what we get on Day 7! Check back tomorrow to celebrate the one week mark!

Day 7

On Day 7 of the 2024 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar we get a fantastic surprise, a Minikit! Fans of the LEGO Star Wars video games will immediately recognise these little collectibles that are hidden throughout levels of the game.

The design is spot on, and fans of the TT Games series will be incredibly happy to see this one pop out.

It’s quite a big surprise to see a LEGO Star Wars video game reference in the Advent Calendar, but if we’re celebrating all things LEGO Star Wars in this year’s Advent Calendar, it makes perfect sense for LEGO to also commemorate the video games, which have been an important pillar of LEGO Star Wars through the years.

What a fun surprise, and honestly, a refreshing build that demonstrates that Star Wars Advent Calendars can still surprise and delight fans of all kinds. Come back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 8!

Day 8

On Day 8 we get another iconic Star Wars vehicle with Jabba’s Sail Barge! The micro model here does a great job of capturing the Sail Barge’s unique silhouette, and I really like the technique of using the angled bars to give the sails a unique tilt.

This year of course gave us 75397 UCS Jabba’s Sail Barge, the definitive version of Jabba’s Sail Barge which I hope some of you were lucky enough to pick up when it launched in October.

Now that we’ve also established a pattern with the LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar where each window commemorates a year by year milestone firsts of Star Wars sets starting with 1999’s X-Wing Starfighter, today is a nod to 2006’s 6210 Jabba’s Sail Barge which is its first appearance! Looking at the UCS Sail Barge today, it’s a marvel how far LEGO Star Wars has come.

With this Advent Calendar being an ode to LEGO Star Wars history, I can’t wait to see what we’ll get tomorrow for Day 9. I wonder what released in 2007 that we’ll celebrate!

Day 9

On Day 9 of the 2024 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, we get a model that needs no further introduction, the Millennium Falcon. Having built a lot of LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendars, I REALLY like this particular variant – it looks chunky, pancakey and captures the silhouette of the Millennium Falcon well, with nice flourishes like the radar dish and mandibles.

I also like the round tile with stud on the top, which I think is a nod to the classic playset Millennium Falcon from the early days.

But following the pattern of celebrating each milestone year of LEGO Star Wars, today’s window puts us squarely in the year 2007, and today’s build is a homage to one of the most iconic LEGO Star Wars sets of all time 10179 UCS Millennium Falcon!

It was THE ultimate LEGO Star Wars set at the time, and till today remains the holy grail of most LEGO Star Wars fans and its undeniable the impact this set made when it released in 2007, and took the title of the biggest LEGO set ever made.

A monumental year for LEGO, and a fantastic celebration of this truly iconic set. Come back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 10!

Day 10

On Day 10 of the 2024 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar we get an Ahsoka Tano minifigure! This is the same version as the one from 75362 Ahsoka Tano’s T-6 Jedi Shuttle, so if you don’t own that set, it’s a great bonus to pick this one up!

Anakin’s Padawan, affectionately known as Snips is a fan-favourite characters, and recently fronted the Ahsoka Disney+ live action series, so it’s great to see her in this year’s Advent Calendar.

She’s not exclusive, but Ahsoka’s printed detail on her legs, arms and Lekku (hairpiece), is immaculate and she’s a fantastic addition to the Advent Calendar lineup.

Today’s build is an homage of the year 2008, where Ahsoka Tano first made her debut as a LEGO minifigure in 7675 AT-TE Walker and 7680 The Twilight, and as you can see from the current version and the early variant with the large Clone Wars eyes, LEGO minifigure design sure has come a long way!

Come back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 11 and what homage we get to the year 2009!

Day 11

On Day 11 we get one of the most important capital ships of the Clone Wars with a Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser! The precursor to the Imperial Star Destroyer, these attack cruisers were employed by the Republic in the Prequels and is also one of the crown jewels of the LEGO Ultimate Collectors Series sets with 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser.

The build is quite nice, with the dark red strip drawing your eye visually, and I like the clever use of headlight brick and slope for the shaping. We last got a Venator in the 2016 Star Wars Advent Calendar and I can say that this one is a significant improvement, with much better proportions.

Today’s build is a homage to 2009, specifically 8039 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser which is still a beloved set from LEGO’s Clone Wars era, and a fantastic tie-in to LEGO Star Wars heritage, with links to today’s enormous UCS sets.

Another cracker of the day and with the Venator, it really demonstrates the depth and breadth of LEGO Star Wars’ 25 years of history. Come back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 12!

Day 12

We continue on with LEGO Star Wars’ Prequel era with Day 12’s Emperor Palpatine’s Shuttle! This vehicle is officially known as the Theta-class T-2c shuttle and was a precursor to the better known  Lambda-class T-4a shuttle from the Original Trilogy.

It borrows many of the same design features, namely the wings which can fold inwards in landing mode. In case you’re wondering the tile held in place by a clip is NOT an illegal technique! This has long been an acceptable build technique as tiles do not stress the clips as much as plates.

Today’s build is an homage to the year 2010, specifically set 8096 Emperor Palpatine’s Shuttle! You can see the prominent fin on the model, and the darker glass on the cockpit which is captured faithfully in today’s mini build.

That’s it for Day 12! Check back in tomorrow to see what we get for Day 13 as we enter into the 2010s!

Day 13

It’s Friday the 13th and today, we get another iconic Prequel-era ship with the Jedi T6 Shuttle! These transports were commonly used by the Jedi during the Clone Wars, and the white and red colours, as well as the ship’s unique flat or fin-shaped look was one of the more imaginative ship designs from that period.

The T6 Shuttle’s hallmark feature was the ability for the wings to swivel around the cockpit to change orientations, but alas, this model is static. I believe this is the first ever T6 Shuttle we’ve gotten in an Advent Calendar which is exciting, and I dream about LEGO potentially incorporating the swivel feature into a future model.

Today’s model is an ode to 2011’s 7931 Jedi T-6 Shuttle which was a beloved set from the Prequel era. Thanks to the Disney+ Ahsoka tv series, fans can now get a modern version of the set with 75362 Ahsoka Tano’s T-6 Jedi Shuttle, sending us full circle!

Not a bad day, but really wish that this model could change forms. Come back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 14!

Day 14

The epic Clone Wars and Prequel era continues to be a rich source for builds with Day 14 of the 2024 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar giving us a Mandalorian Fang Fighter! The colours does point to this being Pre Vizsla‘s Kom’rk-class fighter, known as the Gauntlet, and I think this is the first build from this calendar to trip up a lot of people!

To me, the shape doesn’t quite capture the Gauntlet’s razor sharp lines and angles, with the mandibles looking a bit too squarish for me at this scale. There also isn’t enough of a gap between the cockpit and the wings, plus just like the T6 Shuttle, they are static and don’t fold up in landing mode unfortunately!

Here’s how it looks from the back.

Today’s build is an homage to the year 2012, with 9525 Pre Vizsla’s Mandalorian Fighter, a fantastic model that really defined the latter years of the Clone Wars era, featuring fan-favourite minifigure Pre Vizsla and his Darksaber.

Looking at this as a reference image, it really does undersell the model, which is a shame! Day 14 wins points for fun source material, but disappoints on execution.

Come back tomorrow to see what we get for Day 15!

Day 15

On Day 15 of the 2024 Star Wars Advent Calendar we get an army builder classic, the 501st Clone Trooper! The 501st Legion is one of the most beloved and well known Clone Trooper legions as they were under the command of General Anakin Skywalker during the Clone Wars, and contained many notable Clones such as Captain Rex, Fives, Jesse and Echo.

As the 501st is one of the best known battalions, having more of these excellent minifigures will always be welcomed by LEGO Star Wars fans, and this particular version has been included in many sets such as the recent 75345 501st Clone Troopers Battle Pack.

Today’s window is an homage to the year 2013, which saw the first Phase 2 501st Clone Trooper minifigure make his debut in 2 sets, 75004 Z-95 Headhunter and 75002 AT-RT!

As we get into the 2010s, it’s quite incredible to see the Prequel-era models and minifigures equal the number of Original Trilogy ones! Come back tomorrow to see what Day 16 gives us, and which side will tip the scales of balance!

Day 16

Christmas is less than 10 days away! The 2024 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar continues to deliver with another iconic modern ship, with Day 16’s The Ghost! Fans of LEGO Star Wars Rebels will immediately recognise this modified VCX-100 light freighter piloted by Hera Syndulla, and the mini version here does a pretty good job of capturing The Ghost’s silhouette, as well the primary colours used on the top.

Here’s the look from the back.

Today’s build is an homage to 2014, which saw the debut of 75053 The Ghost, which wasn’t the most popular set when it came out, but after LEGO Star Wars fans slowly warmed to Dave Filoni’s Rebels series, this soon became a fan-favourite with this set being especially valuable if you happen to have one sealed!

Also fun fact, there are 2 Kanan Jarrus variants in the set, the more common Dark Brown Hair and Eyebrows version and the rarer Black Hair and Eyebrows version, which could potentially be worth hundreds! The black version was included in the first production run, before LEGO corrected it to dark brown for subsequent sets.

Another excellent set that celebrates the era of Star Wars that bridges the Prequel Era and Original Trilogy. Come back tomorrow to see what Day 16 gives us!

Day 17

On Day 17 we get a very familiar face with a Luke Skywalker minifigure! This version of Luke Skywalker is from Return of the Jedi, and just like his sister Leia, he also has a festive Christmas sweater with Lars Homestead, his home on Tatooine! I really love the twin suns as well.

On his back, there is a Sandcrawler and a Moisture Vaporator. There are 2 little red blobs boarding the Sandcrawler which is a very fun detail.

You might be scratching your head about what the significance Luke Skywalker has to the year 2015, but Day 17’s pays homage to the line of LEGO Star Wars Buildable Figures! 75110 Luke Skywalker first came out in 2015, and these constraction figures debuted to mixed reactions among fans, but they were a notable bit of innovation from the LEGO Star Wars designed team that tried to recapture the magic of Bionicle, but with a Star Wars twist!

Tomorrow kicks off the final 7 days of the 2024 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar! I’m surprised we didn’t get anything from The Force Awakens, but I guess that’s what tomorrow is for! Come back to see what Day 18 brings!

Day 18

Wow so LEGO really isn’t going to acknowledge the Sequels Prequels huh? On Day 18 of the 2024 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar we get a U-Wing Starfighter, the bold Rebel starfighter that made its debut in the critically-acclaimed Rogue One, which is my favourite Star Wars movie of all time!

This little model looks a little blocky but manages to capture the U-wing’s distinct silhouette, as well as white, and yellow colour scheme well. I especially like the rods for the quad engines at the back. Like the T6 Shuttle, I do wish they’d manage to squeeze in some functions to make the wings swivel into flight mode, but it’s incredibly challenging to do so at this scale.

Day 18’s window looks back at the year 2016, the year Rogue One came out in the cinemas, and was accompanied by one of the best LEGO Star Wars subthemes yet. 75155 Rebel U-Wing Fighter was one such fine set, and as it was only 8 years ago, I’m sure this set is fresh in most fans minds!

That’s it for Day 18 so far! A memorable build from one of the best modern LEGO Star Wars movies! Come back tomorrow to see what we get for Day 19 and the year 2017!

Day 19

On Day 19 of the 2024 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, we swing right back into the Prequel era with Yoda’s Jedi Starfighter! The Jedi Starfighter’s shape has been decently captured here, with the prominent glass cockpit, and wings that arch downwards in the middle, as well a blue stud representing an Astromech Droid, likely R2-D2!

Quite a tricky model to get right at this scale, but the colours and distinct shape get the job done!

Day 19’s build celebrates the year 2017, which marks the first appearance of 75168 Yoda’s Jedi Starfighter! If you want something slightly more modern, there is a newer version currently available (although slated to retire soon!), 75360 Yoda’s Jedi Starfighter!

That’s it for Day 19! Only 5 days remain in the very excellent 2024 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar! Come back tomorrow to see what Day 20’s window contains!

Day 20

On Day 20 of the 2024 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, we get a really cool minifigure, an Imperial Praetorian Guard! These bright red guards are elite soldiers, modelled after Emperor Palpatine’s Royal Guard, and feature a variety of energy melee weapons that can go toe to toe against lightsabers.

This version was from Moff Gideon’s Praetorian Guard, and this minifigure is the same one as the one from 75386 Paz Vizsla and Moff Gideon which came out earlier this year.

Here’s a look at his head, and back printing, which is excellent all around.

Day 20 is a bit of an odd one as today’s build celebrates a LEGO Star Wars first from the year 2018. 75216 Snoke’s Throne Room is the first time Elite Praetorian Guards first made an appearance as a LEGO Minifigure, but today’s minifigure is an Imperial Praetorian Guard, from The Mandalorian Season 3, which came out in 2023.

I guess it could be a representation of Praetorian Guards as a whole, but it feels like a bit of a stretch for me! That said, the Imperial Praetorian Guard is a neat minifigure, and I do like that this is kind of a Sequel Trilogy homage, but I do wish that we got a character that’s more important like Rey, or Kylo Ren.

An odd day, and one that will surely spark plenty of debate from Star Wars fans! Come back tomorrow to see what we get for Day 21 as we head into the year 2019!

Day 21

On Day 21 of the 2024 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, we get our first location build this year, with Darth Vader’s Castle! Darth Vader’s humble home is located on the Lava planet Mustafar where Anakin Skywalker was famously left for dead, burning into a pile of ash – just the place filled with happy memories that you’d obviously erect your living abode!

The build looks great and perfectly captures Anakin’s melodramatic residence with its two peaks, and fiery entryway. Don’t confuse this for an evil looking spaceship if you lay it flat!

Day 21’s build commemorates the year 2019, which is the first (and only!) time we’ve ever gotten Darth Vader’s Castle as a set. I really hope LEGO remake this again, potentially at a grander and more detailed scale.

That’s it for Day 21 so far! Only 3 days remain and I wonder how we’ll close out the Star Wars Advent Calendar!

Day 22

On Day 22 of the 2024 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, we’re quickly approaching the current era of LEGO Star Wars sets with the Razor Crest! We’ve last had Razor Crest in the 2020 Star Wars Advent Calendar, and this one has a few tiny changes like a yellow tile on the side, instead of the tan accent that we got in the last one.

The biggest cosmetic change is the the flat tile on the back, which I think makes it looks a little slicker.

Day 22’s build is an homage to the year 2020. Some bad things happened in that year but we also got the game-changing Season 1 of The Mandalorian which introduced the Razor Crest, one of the most interesting new Star Wars ships, so I think this is the perfect encapsulation of Star Wars in 2020.

And that’s it for Day 22 so far! Only 2 days remain! Now I’m really curious how they end this Advent Calendar and if we’ll go out with a bang!

Day 23

On Day 23 we get a staple LEGO Star Wars set, Luke’s Landspeeder! One of the most ubiquitous LEGO Star Wars sets ever and one of the most recognisable vehicles from A New Hope, LEGO have done a splendid job with the proportions, colours and overall silhouette of this micro Landspeeder.

I especially love the use of round 1×1 studs to represent Luke Skywalker and C-3PO as they ride through Tatooine’s sandy dunes!

Day 23’s build is an ode to the year 2022, with 75341 UCS Luke’s Landspeeder being the very first time this iconic vehicle was treated to a Ultimate Collector’s Series display model. It’s a little odd that LEGO skipped past the year 2021, as a UCS Republic Gunship would’ve also made a fine model to include.

I do wonder why LEGO decided to skip 2021, but I guess with only 24 days, it was always inevitable that a day would be skipped. Sorry, Gunship fans!

That’s it for Day 23! I can’t believe December has flown by just like that and we’re finally at the end of the 2024 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar! Check back tomorrow for the final build and a wrapup of what has been one of the most memorable LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendars in recent times!

I hope, wherever you are in the world, you’re all ready to celebrate the holidays with family and loved ones!

Day 24

Welcome to the final day of the 2024 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar! Day 24 gives us a really interesting choice for the grand finale, with the Crimson Firehawk!

The Crimson Firehawk is quite an obscure ship from Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures, an animated series aimed at very young kids. Unless you have younger children, I’m sure most LEGO Star Wars fans would not be remotely aware of this, making this a fascinating choice to close off this year’s Star Wars Advent Calendar!

The ship itself is really well-designed, and it’s a really good take on the Crimson Firehawk. The red and white colour scheme is also suitably festive, which is why I’m guessing it was selected for the Christmas Eve build.

For the final day of this commemorative Star Wars Advent Calendar, we once again skip the year 2023, and jump to the present year (2024), with a nod to 75384 The Crimson Firehawk. As Young Jedi Adventures is aimed at very young kids, the set is a 4+ set, so again, most LEGO Star Wars fans would not have paid a lot of attention to it!

Final Thoughts

And that’s it for the 2024 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar! While Day 24’s ending feels a little underwhelming, mostly because we didn’t end on a festive/seasonal minifigure or build, and that it ended on a ship from a particularly niche piece of Star Wars Media, I really enjoyed this year’s Calendar!

The countdown celebrating 25 years of LEGO Star Wars was especially memorable, and I had a blast reminiscing about LEGO Star Wars history and so many classic LEGO Star Wars builds!

This was a really interesting twist, and I liked how much more focused on ships and builds this Star Wars Advent Calendar has been, complete with some really fun builds!

For highlights, these have been some of my favourite ship designs in this year’s Star Wars Advent Calendar. The retro X-Wing, U-Wing and Minikit were particularly memorable!

The minifigures in the 2024 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar have really felt like they were supporting characters this time around, but I think the mix was optimal with the right balance of army builders that you don’t mind getting multiples of and also exclusive Christmas-themed minifigures.

For collectors of LEGO Star Wars minifigures with Christmas sweaters, we get 2 excellent additions here with a Return of the Jedi Luke Skywalker, complete with a Tatooine-themed sweater and also a Hoth-themed sweater for his sister Princess Leia!

These are my favourite Christmas sweaters so far, but after so many years of these Christmas Sweater variants, I wouldn’t mind going them going back to Santa-themed minfigures next year!

While this has been a LEGO Star Wars anniversary-themed calendar, I felt like there were several glaring omissions. While we used to joke about the dreaded Weapons Racks, I felt like not getting a Christmas-themed Weapons Rack was a big miss as they were such an integral part of LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendars!

I also missed getting a Festive Gonk Droid which have been staples of recent LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendars! That said, I understand why it might’ve been a challenge to squeeze them in, especially as the design team were also forced to skip over the years 2021 and 2023!

2024 is a milestone year for LEGO Star Wars as the theme celebrates its 25th anniversary, and this Advent Calendar being part of the celebrations has been incredibly enjoyable, and I think one of the best Star Wars Advent Calendars that we’ve gotten in recent years!

And that concludes another LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar countdown! I hope you’ve enjoyed following along, whether its your first time here, or you’ve been following since 2014! Thank you so much to everyone that’s been active in the comments section, and I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Thanks again Jay. The identification, photos, commentary and enthusiasm add so much to enjoying these advent calenders! Got a bit behind at Christmas so just finished up today. I agree more holiday touches on the builds would be fun but overall building a little bit of lego everyday is a joy!

  2. Ron says:

The only nitpicky thing I have with the list is that there was not a Fang Fighter in the list. Day 14 was Gauntlet Fighter, aka a Kom’rk-class fighter/transport. Those are the large transports seen in The Mandalorian that have a drop bay and such.
Fang Fighters are the much smaller single-pilot fighters that are seen in the Rebels TV show. They look similar except for the scale, especially since they both have wings that rotate around the cockpit. (Although the Gauntlet can also rotate them vertically for landing.)
There was a Fang Fighter build recently. which was the one that came paired with the TIE Interceptor.
(Sorry, it’s just that the Fang Fighter is my favorite ship in the X-Wing tabletop game!)

  3. David says:

Jay, thank you so much for doing so many calendars again this year. It is much appreciated. My wife and I both really enjoy your take on each one.

No weapons racks this year? I am amazed! :-O

  4. @Håkan There was a holiday Rey in last year’s Millennium Falcon Holiday Diorama set. In fact the set was Sequel themed Holiday Rey and Finn, Older Chewie, BB-8 and a Porg. That may be why no sequel stuff in this calendar.

  5. Michael says:

    Hey Jay,

as usual you’ve done an awesome job with all these advent calendar, thanks a lot for that, still the best salesman Lego might dream to have :).

And as you wrote, day 14 build is just as bad as possible I guess, they could have some so much better job, the tiny build barely looks like source model at all.

Also, for “missed” years, they could come with alt build of a few other days to make additional models for instance. Such a lack of idea and cleverness.

But the worth is to release these calendars in September ! Such a non-sense to me.

  6. JeffC says:

Lots of good vehicles, not too many cheesy jumpers or santa hats, and a truly puzzling last build – glad it wan’t me. Fave ship was the Ghost, which I shall be carrying next year as an easy-in-the-hand-talisman. See you next xmas!

  7. Chris Brower says:

I’ve been doing these for the last…7 years? (wow) and this was one of the best. Some of the best micro builds ever. And I only wish we could have got The Dark Falcon, but maybe next year! Thanks as always Jay, I love this countdown every year!

  8. Håkan says:

Overall, I find this calendar very good, but I would have liked to see Rey instead of the somewhat oversaturated Luke. I guess she isn’t as good a selling point, though…

  9. Susan says:

Very strange build to end on, particularly after completely omitting anything from the sequel trilogy. I know people have mixed opinions on those movies but it’s hard not to see it as a snub in a 25th anniversary celebration. That said, this is still probably the best Lego Star Wars calendar I’ve had. As someone who grew up playing the Lego Star Wars video games the minikit was the absolute highlight for me! And no day wasted on a weapons rack ;P

  10. NM family says:

Our entire family was really disappointed by the final build. Overall a good year, no weapons rack😭, great variety. But the kids and I were sad with the final day

  11. Dudley says:

One of my favorite calendars, and I’ve been doing a calendar each year since 2014, so this is nitpicking. I wish it had a couple builds that connected as well as at least one holiday-themed build. I’d also much prefer a festive mini-figure and a holiday-themed build associated with them on days 23 and 24. Great fun and it looks like I chose the right calendar this year.

  12. KaptainVon says:

I actually like the final model. It’s different, has a festive colour scheme and it’s not one we have had before.

Overall we have had about the same number of minifigures as usual, a location build, a bunch of great ships and a nod to the games series. It was a look at 25 years of history so giving the Gonk droids and weapon racks a well earned rest didn’t seem so bad. Perhaps they will return in 2025? Oh and if anyone from the calendar design team is reading this…Kylo Ren in a Santa outfit 😀

Hope everyone has a merry Christmas and a happy (and Lego filled) 2025.

  13. bobtheninjagoldfish says:

One of my favorite things about past Calendars were the Festive GONK droids. Feel that is sorely missing from this year. And such an odd choice for the final day. All in all a great calendar though.

  14. Kind of an odd build to end the calendar. I was expecting some thing Christmas themed like a tree. This may have been better earlier in the advent.

  15. Josh says:

Day 24 – Buzz (droid) kill of the year. Even my 7 year old son, who watches Young Jedi animated show was disappointed and asked if we could omit the Crimson Firefox from the Advent display. Lol not lol Oh well, Merry Christmas everyone!

  16. SaCul says:

I’m honestly a little disappointed in this years calendar. As a stand alone Lego Star Wars product, it’s great! As an Advent product though? Pretty bad. Near as I can tell, only 2 of the 368 pieces(the sweaters) had anything to do with Advent//Winter/Christmas/Holidays.

  17. Nick M says:

Thanks Jay for another year guiding us through the advent calendar. Always essential to have your identifications of the individual models. My grandson has really taken to the baby ATAT, which now lives in one of the compartments of the Daddy ATAT. I thought it was a good year for the more casual builder such as myself, with plenty of neat spacecraft. Looking forward to 2025

  18. Julien Bonnec says:

And it’s done for this year, slighty disapointed also by the last build.

I’d like more minifig/x-mas sweater for next year.
I’v got 40658, added X-mas Poe to it, X-mas 3-PO and D2, Luke and Leia, Sheev and Anakin.
I feel like we’re missing Xmas Sweater Han & Ben/Kylo, those would be a great addition for next year !

  19. James Allen says:

What an awesome calendar this year. Shame on some of the missed classics but I think overall we benefitted from a stronger line up of builds with some real killers. Hasn’t been this consistently great for years I feel. Defo a shame on today’s final door though :(.

Thanks as always for doing such a quality and insightful daily update – such a core part of my December experience.

This is my 9th year following along so looking forward to joining again in 11 months for the decade milestone.

    Have an awesome Christmas Jay!

  20. SteveD says:

Well, another year done. Started really strong, a few utter duds in the middle, some good stuff near the end and then… well, the less said about day 24 the better.

  21. SteveS says:

Day 24 already! It’s really come round quicky again!!

We were a bit deflated in our household with the final surprise this year, to say the least. We’ve been talking about how Lego have managed to really keep the last figure a secret on the box this year, and were really excited to see who it would be. It’s a ship we’ve never heard of. Definitely a lot of vehicle builds this year, and some good favourites for us in the Falcon, X-Wing, Ghost, Razor Crest, landspeeder and Yoda’s starfighter. We also really loved the micro-build of Jabba’s Sail Barge. Amazing what the Lego team can do with minimal bricks.

I agree on the Gonk droids as well – we always love getting those little guys, so a bit of a miss but makes sense not to put them in every year.

Thanks to you especially Jay for another great ‘Star Wars Lego Advent Calendar Brick Blog Countdown’. Say this every year but it really makes our Christmas, and opening the doors without you and the Brick Blog community just wouldn’t be the same.

Have a great Christmas everybody, and all the Best for 2025! xxx

  22. Nick P says:

This was my first Lego Star wars calendar, being 50 on Xmas eve the Mrs indulged me. Good fun and nice builds to add to my main collection.

  23. Ben Rumbold says:

Quite a massive percentage of “ships” in this calendar! I bought a bunch of tall clear bricks to raise flying machines up from the ground for display, and I’ve used nearly all of them for this calendar! A good array of models though, and again thank you Jay for giving me the chance to practice my Aussie accent to the wife and make her laugh about the calendar, which she always gets me even as I celebrate my 47th birthday! May you never stop sir!
    Ben, Gloucester, England

  24. Andrew says:

I always forget how much a part Christmas your blog is. I always enjoy the background to each item. Thank you so much. You’re a ⭐️.

  25. Ryan Spear says:

We had to know the Landpeeder was coming since it’s on the box, but it does feel like it’s done a little too often. If they’re going to keep using it as a standby, maybe they could at least give it a sort of holiday “paint job” on the next go around. With that said, it seems like this year’s calendar has done a better job of not spoiling every single build on the box. It’s nice to wait for an actual surprise on day 24, unlike the last few years.

  26. KaptainVon says:

I love the Luke and C-3PO detail on the landspeeder. A nice touch and another great model in what has been a great year.

Oh and if you add a couple of clear studs from your collection to the underside it looks like it is hovering.

  27. Mike says:

I’ve found that, for the day 9 Millenium Falcon, if on the cockpit side you replace the 1×2 plate and the 1×2 slope with (from back to front) a 1×1 cheese slope, a 1×1 plate, and a 1×1 tile, you can then attach the cockpit on the plate. This shifts it one stud back which I think really helps with the proportions.

  28. Matthias says:

I was honestly surprised to see the landspeeder in the advent of this year as there was already one in 2022. Definitely an upgrade if put them side by side.

  29. KB says:

The Razor Crest was last seen in 2021 – it was in 2020 as well, but that one had a tan block horizontally in the middle of the body, the 2021 fig had it on the side!

Love the write-ups, keep up the fab work!

  30. Lee says:

Love the location micro-builds. They’re so clever and often capture the essence of the “real” thing far more than calendar depictions of much-smaller objects.

  31. SaCul says:

I little disappointed with todays build. I mean the build itself is fine, but 2019 was the first year they started adding the holiday themed Gonk Droids in these calendars. Was really hopping for another one of those badboys.

  32. Håkan says:

    @Denis

I think Lego could do better for Anakin’s Podracer. As has been pointed out, it’s also a chronological reference to the set 10134 Y-wing Attack Starfighter.

  33. Denis says:

    Hello,
Are you sure about Day 6 ?
I thought like you, but my son sees a podracer, and I tend to agree : I see Anakin’s podracer if you turn it around 180°.
I why disappointed as we had much better looking YWings in the past, so I really believe in a podracer vision, which comes out not bad at all !
    Cheers !

  34. JeffC says:

He’s got no face and his head is the same colour as his armour.

  35. SteveS says:

Always love a figure, and the Praetorian Guard is pretty cool!

We’ve been doing the Star Wars Advent Calendar since 2011 in our home and we’ve noted that, with Yoda’s Jedi Starfighter, we’ve equalled the most vehicles we’ve had in the last 13 years = 13 (in 2013). And we’ve still got 4 days to go for this calendar!

This year is also the least amount of ‘miscellaneous bits’ as my son calls them (they’re either figures, ships or misc bits), with only the Lego game Minikit so far. Saying no more on that front. . . . . 🙂

  36. SaCul says:

I’m kind of glad we got the Praetorian Guard today. We knew it was coming since it was on the front of the box and all, but I was getting worried it would be the last day.(The guard being all red would work as a replacement Santa in a sense)

  37. Jason says:

Hello! I’m so glad I found your blog, I always check here after my daily advent build, just to compare my finished product with yours!

I see your praetorian guard doesn’t have a face either. I thought maybe I got a misprint or something! I’ve never seen a mini fight without a face, any thoughts on that? Granted, I’m no expert, but this seems odd to me!

    Thanks!

  38. illidanik says:

The Praetorian is really great. Now we Are not missing the third one in 75386 to fight Paz. 🙂

  39. SaCul says:

This calendar has been pretty great so far, but I do wish it had a touch more festive themed builds. The two sweaters are nice, but that’s the only holiday related thing so far! Still a few days to go of course.

  40. Shmorkie13 says:

you know what the best thing about this calendar is? No weapon racks!!

  41. Tim says:

I love Yoda’s Starfighter! The green tile in the cockpit is a great way to represent Yoda piloting his craft with the support of R2D2. keep up the great reviews!

  42. Squiddo says:

Really sad to see this calander fly by so fast this year (even though it’s not over yet) I really liked this years one, having a nice walk though Lego history has been wonderful, shame there’s no silly b1 though. Could’ve made a really nice day 1, as fun fact, the first battle droid is Star Wars minfigure: SW0001A

  43. Steve Harrington says:

Honestly, today is kind of a miss for me. I feel like the wings are kind of weird and that they dont really resemble the folding, tie interceptor-esque ones in the original set. Oh well, still better than day 14.

  44. Josh says:

I’ve enjoyed following along with these Advent calendar posts for a fair few years now, good stuff Jay, but this is my first time actually buying one and I’ve enjoyed all the builds so far. I’m a bit miffed we haven’t gotten any sequel stuff, I liked the sequels and don’t like how much they are ignored in all the merch (including Lego) – feels a lot like they did with the prequels back in the mid 2000s and that was clearly a misstep. I suppose 2018 and 2019 had a few sets so maybe something is coming, but I’m not holding my breath.

I’ve kept “spoiler” free but know a couple of things that must be coming up due to seeing them on the box every day… But I do wonder what the big finish will be. I assumed it was definitely going to be Luke until he popped up a few days ago, so now I’m really unsure.

    • Jay Ong says:

Yeah, no sequels for a 25th anniversary SW advent is mighty odd. Maybe we’ll get something for 2019 with the Rise of Skywalker? A Quadjumper or even Kylo Ren’s Shuttle were shocking omissions for me, or even Rey.

An old Luke Skywalker dressed as Santa would’ve been pretty good for today (2017).

They’ve definitely flipped the script this year!

  45. Joe B. says:

The Rogue One LEGO sets are much like the movie itself: pretty good when first released and seem even better now. Unlike the sequel trilogy (which I still like, just not as much as Rogue One) that seems to deteriorate with time and I can’t think of many LEGO models I really liked, other than 2 Poe’s X-wing sets.
The U-Wing is probably my favorite Star Wars set of the Disney era.

  46. SteveS says:

The Instructions aren’t quite right for the U-Wing – We thought we were missing a number of black studs for the front and back of the engines as they show black inserts but I think they’ve just got the colours wrong. At least they have on ours. They’re drawn as 2-colour pieces when they’re all white.

Other than that, its not bad – could’ve benefited some separation between the top and bottom engines but can’t complain for micro-build limitations.

  47. KaptainVon says:

I know it’s probably heresy and sacrilege but I’m tempted to sleek the U-Wing up a bit by swapping the blue square stud for a similar flat piece. Or I could just build a new one from spares to see what it looks like.

  48. Matt says:

I thought that the u-wing was rather blocky but when I saw the picture they actually did GREAT job.

  49. did anyone else notice that the day 18 flap image has 4 black studs in the engines but there are only 2 studs in the packet? maybe mine got printed weird.

  50. SteveD says:

“Wow so LEGO really isn’t going to acknowledge the Prequels huh?”

    Sequels?

    Didn’t even recognise the U-Wing!

  51. Marshall says:

If we are getting LUKE SKYWALKET! On day 17 I wonder 🤔 what we are getting for 24.

  52. jere7my says:

I’m disappointed we didn’t get Rey or BB-8 or one of the many TFA Lego sets from 2015. TFA was really the Star Wars event of 2015, so it’s a bit odd they’d go with RotJ-era Luke. I hope this doesn’t mean the sequels are getting overlooked.

  53. SaCul says:

Kind of surprised to see Luke today. This late in the calendar, figured he’d be the last day/Santa analog. Hopefully they’re saving something cool!

  54. Christopher Ernest Evans says:

The Ghost is awesome and always a welcome addition but to improve the overall shape I attached a white 1×2 flat plate with a single stud to either side.

  55. Lee says:

It’s weird how they’ve managed to improve the detailing, while changing to an overall shape which (in my opinion, of course) makes it look LESS like the Ghost…

    https://jaysbrickblog.com/star-wars-2/lego-star-wars-advent-calendar-2017-countdown/#Day1

It’s good to see it again though – 2017 was the first time I got the Lego SW calendar: a really awful year for me in many ways; but things picked up later in the year, so seeing the Ghost here reminds me of that more positive time!

  56. SteveS says:

Just noticed we got The Ghost on Day 1 in 2017. I think the 2024 version is a much better representation.

  57. SteveS says:

Really like the Ghost – I think model shape along with the three colour stripes really does the ship justice!
We’ve got the original Ghost Lego model, opened but still boxed – will have to dig it out and see what hair colour Kanan we have!

  58. JeffC says:

The SW advent calendar and this blog are now firm fixtures of my xmas.

What I’m liking this year is that not all the builds are pictured on the box. Surprises! But what is it with including a coloured piece (pink!) and then hiding it?

I think that the Ghost looks better if you move the half-round white bit nearer the clear turret and put the spare half-round bit symetrically the other side of the turret.

  59. Jason says:

Im a bit confused on Day 14. Your finished build shows solid blue under the cockpit. This doesn’t match my build and as far as I can tell, doesn’t match the instructions. Any ideas?

  60. I gotta say Jay you’re a life saver, often peering at the poorly drawn guides I struggle to put together these models, your excellent hi res photos really help me assemble things I could not otherwise do, me and my twitch viewers thank you

  61. Sharon says:

I’m enjoying the calendar a lot. Trying to identify the ships is fun. I don’t have the encyclopaedic knowledge of past sets, as I pretty much started building again around 2016 with my young nephew originally. Then I discovered I could combine my Star Wars passion with Lego. Last time I’d played with Lego, it was Fabuland! Still have them somewhere! Each day after opening, we check out your blog and I read aloud the commentary for SW and HP. So thanks again!

  62. Tony Fox says:

Does the T6 Shuttle go with Ashoka Tano? – https://www.starwars.com/databank/ahsoka-s-t-6-jedi-shuttle

  63. SaCul says:

On the front of the box they show todays door open with a picture of the shuttle. I thought it was just packaging magic, but no, I guess they just let it all out there. Bad enough half the contents are spoiled on the box cover, but I really hope they don’t start spoiling what days are what.

  64. Lionel Berecry-Smith says:

The T-6 Jedi Shuttle model from Issue #115 of the Lego Star Wars magazine swivels on the central axis.

  65. Keith says:

On day 12 I got Vader’s castle instead of Palpatine’s shuttle. Hopefully I get the ship later instead of another castle.

  66. Christopher Ernest Evans says:

The highlight of counting down to Christmas is here with you annually Jay!

I love this calendar so far (one of the BEST) but THE definitive Millennium Falcon in these calendars is still the 2020 one it’s proportions are just perfect.

  67. SteveS says:

I know what you said, but it just doesn’t feel right clipping that tile in! 🙂

  68. Håkan says:

    @Ron

Another colored tile would be perfectly fine. A plate, on the other hand, would be living dangerously, indeed. It might not be worth it putting your life under such serious stress.

  69. D says:

    weapons rack when?

  70. Ron says:

The Emperor’s shuttle is nice. Luv the mini ship builds the most. However, are the Lego police gonna come after me if i use an alternate piece (maybe make it a holiday color) instead of the “tile”. Wouldn’t want to use an “illegal technique” to change this mini-build (LOL)

  71. Ian Hazlehurst says:

I loved the Millenuim Falcon too & missed the 2nd clear engine brick, but think It should be a smooth top tile. I’ll look in my collection & see if I have one.

  72. SteveD says:

Wasn’t 100% happy with the Millennium Falcon, but for me the Theta Shuttle is the first real dud this year.

  73. Mike says:

Hey. Glad I found this great site. I’m in my mid sixties. My adult son got this set for me. I haven’t played with legos since the 1960’s – early 70’s. They were pretty much just bricks and platforms back then. I had quite a few pieces, and I think they are in the attic somewhere. Anyway, being the boomer that I am, I opened the box and started pulling all the bags out, mixed them all up. My sons found this hilarious. I rely on this site to help me figure out which one I’m supposed to build next. Keep up the great work. You are invaluable to clueless old folks like me. 🙂

  74. Charles says:

Hi Jay and fellow followers! I am a relative newbie here. It’s my 3rd year and absolutely love December mornings! Coffee and your fun countdown to savour! Just wanted to say thanks Jay! Your enthusiasm and positivity are wonderful. Cheers and Merry Christmas to all!

  75. Fernando says:

Great calender this year , I’ve been following your blog for the past 5 years ,long may it continue Jay!

  76. Unbouh says:

Woah ! Thanks I’m pretty sure I did the same mistake !
Will check that when I’ll be back home !

  77. SaCul says:

    Shoot.

Don’t get me wrong, an Ahsoka mini is great! and extra glad they included her 2 lightsabers with her.(Instead of a future weapons rack)

But…was kinda hoping for a micro death star build to represent set 10188.

  78. Håkan says:

1999-2024 makes 26 years, though, so presumably, two of the years will be skipped.

  79. Jay Not-Ong says:

Shouldn’t one of Ahsoka’s lightsabers be shorter than the other?

  80. Lesley says:

You’re missing a second blue tile in the centre of the engine. I love this build, plus I got a bonus! Luke Skywalker figure in a Christmas jumper!!

    • Jay Ong says:

Oh I did, I’ve put it back in and fixed it up, thanks for pointing that out!

That’s a pretty great bonus! Hope it doesn’t take away from a future day…

  81. SteveS says:

Was looking forward to a figure today but instead, my favourite ship of all time – the Millenium Falcon. Realy love this one, and we’ve got lot of them in our household in one lego form or another.

  82. SaCul says:

Now that we’ve figured out the pattern, it’s kinda fun to look up Lego sets by year and make guesses about what we may see in future days.

  83. Laura Fay says:

This is a great build and what a fun year! I agree with SteveD – it seems your second clear blue block is missing from the back.
One thing I think would be brilliant for Lego is to have all the extra pieces make a surprise build at the end. Just a thought!

  84. SteveD says:

Are you missing a piece from the centre of the Millennium Falcon’s engines?
I like most of it, but the cockpit feels awkward.

  85. SteveS says:

The sail barge is an awesome mini-build. Don’t think I’ve seen so few blocks represent something so well. Really impressed.

  86. Lee says:

Every year, there’s at least one build which takes your breath away, through its sheer simplicity yet accurate representation of the “real thing” like the Bespin Cloud City, or the Hoth Ion Cannon from years past. This could be the one for 2024 – let’s see what else is in store!

  87. Blueberry says:

I recognized the minikit the moment i saw the picture on the side of the flap it really brought me back to my childhood very good inclusion

  88. Tom says:

Years of model releases mentioneeld below presumably refers to solo models – the TIE Fighter and Y-Wing first appeared in Lego in 1999, featuring together in set 7150, the very first Star Wars Lego set I owned as I received it for Christmas that year.

I’m glad of your countdown once again, Jay, as I don’t play the video games so I had no idea what the minikit was until I looked up your description here!

  89. SteveS says:

A minikit!? Had no idea what this was but glad you guys are clued up. Was thinking traffic light or obscure droid, or (God forbid) a weapons rack.

  90. Ollie says:

    @Tim
You may be on to something, and the more I think about it the more it actually fits together!
    1999: First X wing
2000: First princess leia minifig released
    2001: First tie fighter
    2002: First Super Battle droid
    2003: First At-At
    2004: First Y-wing
2005: Lego Star wars I released (hence the minikit)
Very smart moves by lego, hope its continues throughout the 24 Days!

  91. Tim says:

    Hey, Jay!
My son and I have been doing these together since 2018 when he was 3, and we’ve been following along with your blog ever since. It’s incredibly helpful and a fun part of our annual traditions!
After you pointed out that Dec. 1 and 3 were based on 1999 and 2001 Legos, it piqued my interest about the significance of those years. I looked and Lego released an AT-AT set in 2003 and a Y-Wing in 2004. We’re thinking the whole calendar may be counting up from the start in 1999!
Thanks for doing this each year!
    Best,
    Tim (Knoxville, TN)

  92. Lee says:

The Y-Wing is my favourite, but I’ve always felt the advent calendar recreations were a bit lacking. This doesn’t feel like much of an improvement, though it IS an improvement on the previous versions. What should be done is, you take the body from this one, the cockpit from 2014 Day 21, and the engines from 2017 Day 18, also using the the gun from the latter, and you have yourselves the perfect mini-Y!

  93. NeilKat says:

Definitely agree. I love the selection of iconic vehicles we’ve got so far!

  94. Francisco says:

Hi Jay! the Y wing looks more proportionate if you slide the cross pylon support brick back one slot. You would have to fill in one stud behind the cockpit to make it look legit.
This was a miss from Lego IMO…Y wing looks very disproportionate.

  95. Mdub says:

    Hey Jay,
I think your window on the Y Wing Fighter is reverse but, I don’t know for sure. The flat part should be facing the sloped 1by1.

  96. Lee says:

I never liked the head on their first (only, if you don’t count the nearly-identical AT-ACT from a couple years after) try at the AT-AT…

    https://jaysbrickblog.com/star-wars-2/lego-star-wars-advent-calendar-2015/#Day18

… so this is a distinct improvement! Otherwise mostly unchanged, but it’s incredible how just changing the head elevates it. If only they could find some way of representing the ion cannons… I do t suppose there’s a one-stud version of the 1×2 flat plate with bar handles?

  97. BrickInventions says:

Hi I just want to point out that you mentioned that Leia was featured in day 1 but she was in day 2, anyways I understand that you are busy and I love to read your countdown every year to see what you think about the stuff you get, keep up the great work!

  98. Prequelfan says:

Oh yeah, misassemble a build. And also complain that this feels like a build that could fill a city or friends advent. (but only in the Harry Potter one)

  99. Nick Gaston says:

This one surprised me. I’m happy to get something different from a traditional B1 battle droid, but given the B1 Droid has remained relatively unchanged since 99, I thought the B1 belonged in this calendar more than almost any other. Instead we got a Droid that didn’t appear onscreen until 2002.

Maybe a B1 Droid is still coming.

  100. SaCul says:

Your comments made me curious so I checked back on the history of battle droids in these advent calendars, it almost feels like part of the tradition at this point!

We’ve gotten some variant of the B1 battle droids most years with the following exceptions

    2012 Had both B1 and B2 versions!
    2014 Only had a B2
2015 The first year without (although we did get an assassin droid)
    2017 The second year missing
2021 and missing for the 3rd year(IG-11 in this one though)

So B1’s are not nearly aa sure a thing as I had thought.

  101. Edward says:

My teenager Anderson says, “the B2 is from the Prequel trilogy, not the Sequel trilogy.”

  102. Prequelfan says:

Jay for a Lego Star Wars advent calendar, here are your rules.

You must be sarcastic about at least one build.
You must say “lego has absolutely knocked it out of the park on this one”
You must make a typo and have a commenter correct you.

Follow these rules and continue making the best advent calendar countdown online.

  103. Squiddo says:

On day 4 I appreciate TLG doing something other than a standard b1, however I found myself adding a B1 of my own, as a B1 fan myself, I always look forward to getting a silly fella, but all the better to get a new figure

  104. Matthias P says:

    Hey Jay,

I’m glad to see you’re keeping up with the yearly tradition! I always enjoy reading the extra info you share about the builds—it’s super helpful. This is my fourth year doing the advent calendar, and your blog has been a great resource, so thanks a lot for that!

Just a small remark about your build of the Super Battle Droid from Day 4: Could it be that the arms are assembled differently in your pictures? From what I see in the instructions on the inside of the flap, it looks like the shorter part of the arm is supposed to attach to the body rather than the longer part, as shown in your photos. I could be wrong, though—the drawings can be tricky to interpret sometimes.

Anyway, keep up the amazing work! I’m excited to see what’s coming in the next days.

  105. alister douglas says:

    hey mate
    i am in Geelong
opened day 4 and got totally the wrong parts (not a figure)
Lego are sending the right ones out but i’ve no idea what this should be
looks like it could be a ship of some kind ??

Always like checking in over christmas

    good work

  106. James Wynne says:

While I like this I am more old fashioned in that I like bow tie fighters!

  107. Update on my day one being wrong. Day two was wrong as well it was not Princess Leia. So I opened the box, the tray had been put in wrong. I slid it back and now the calendar is correct.

  108. SteveD says:

Weird thing about Leia is that that’s her New Hope hairdo, yet she’s wearing a sweater depicting the events at the start of Empire Strikes Back.
Bet that was an awkward conversation at the Echo Base Christmas Lunch. Can her sweaters all tell the future?

  109. SteveS says:

Day 3 and a cool Tie Fighter build to complement the X-Wing. Good shout on the retro theme as well Jay – I’d’ve not picked that up.

  110. Ben says:

My local supermarket runs a “soft plastic” recycling scheme for all kinds of packaging like this. I agree its use should be stopped, but until then the next best thing is to get all these little bags in for that scheme. Maybe there’s something similar near you?

  111. SaCul says:

Real big fan of the Hoth Sweater. Even better, near as I can tell, if you flip the arms around it should reversable if you want more of a rebel base vibe.

  112. Lee says:

Hi Jay! Here we go again…

Was curious to see how this X-Wing compares to previous offerings. And overall… I think it improves on them, a lot! The nose in particular. You lose the engine intakes, but then maybe it’s meant to be the Sequel Trilogy version of the X-Wing..?

    2021: https://jaysbrickblog.com/star-wars-2/lego-star-wars-advent-calendar-2021-countdown/#day11

    • Jay Ong says:

Yeah, the nose in particular looks good! I definitely think it’s a retro nod to the first LEGO X-Wing because of the colours. You’ll see why on Day 3!

  113. Jay, Leia’s sweater is giving off Atari 2600 Empire Strikes Back vibes… Love it!

  114. Laura Fay says:

Woke up early this morning realizing I had forgotten to start the calendar yesterday. So here I sit in the predawn dark, sipping my coffee in a Christmas mug, admiring the first 2 days’ builds. Great start, and as always, Jay, thanks for being faithful to do this! It’s a Christmas tradition – I’ve lost count of the Star Wars ones I’ve done, all following along with you and other fans across the world. Christmas cheers, everyone, and if the first 2 days are any indication, I’ve got a good feeling about this (even if there is a weapons rack!)

  115. Bob says:

For some reason I chose a plastic Pokémon figure calendar instead of the Lego Star Wars one.

  116. One of my favourite moments of December, bookmarking this awesome blog page to follow along with each day I open the next window on my advent calendar.
Been with you for 9 years now and looking forward to hitting the decade point next year!
Thanks as always for sharing the fun – it’s a huge part of what makes this such a great way to enjoy the season.
What a killer start this year though! An X-Wing on Day 1 and then Leia today. Mad.
Though is this a false sense of security for the impending weapons rack incoming I wonder? lol

  117. Nick M says:

Hi Jay, great to be back for another Star Wars advent, thanks for keeping it going every year. This time I have an interested grandson who plays with the figures from previous years. I like the X wing, very recognisable and good playability. Bound to be relying on you to identify some of the upcoming kits

  118. SteveS says:

Now we’re talking – a festive Leia with an awesome Hoth themed jumper. Love her wry smile as well! A fantastic door 2.

  119. Håkan says:

    @YodaArchives

Maybe the plastic inset has been inserted upside-down, so you got the build for #23 instead. It has been known to happen before.

  120. James Wynne says:

A solid start to this year’s Advent Calendar methinks.
You’re all clear, kid, now let’s blow this thing and go home!

  121. I came here to see what was in your door. I did not have an X-Wing but another build. The door said X-wing. There was a bag from the door below it sticking out into Dec 1 and that wasn’t an X-wing either.

  122. @Prequelfan Check Target .com. They had the Spider-man set on sale but only if you bought it online. That’s where I got my Marvel set. Or try Costco a coup;e weeks ago someone posted that they had the advents for a little cheaper.

  123. Sacul says:

    Here we go again!

Glad the blogs still doing its thing, it’s getting to be part of the experience, open the window then check what jay has to say about it.

  124. illidanik says:

Hi Jay, hi everybody. Welcome here again. 🙂
The first window is already bere? :O
Going with you for many years and this one in not a exception. Thanks for doing this.
X-wing Is a great start and reminds me that I’ve always wanted the first edition and never got it. Have to buy it one day.
The only sad thing is that SW calendar is the only one not having a minifigure on Day 1.

  125. Lesley says:

I didn’t think I would be participating this year but my husband surprised me this morning with the Star Wars advent calendar; I am so happy! The X-Wing Starfighter is indeed a great start to this year’s builds.

  126. KaptainVon says:

A cracking start to this years calendar. It looks like the ‘retro’ look may be a nod to the 25th anniversary of Lego Star Wars too.

  127. Prequelfan says:

I’m trying not to peek, maybe I can find this on sale.

  128. SteveS says:

Woo Hoo! Day 1 of the 2024 Lego Star Wars calendar. Can’t believe how quickly its come round again (say that every year!). Looking forward to some great builds.

Hoping for a figure for day 1 (as always 🙂 ) but love the x-wing – it’s even got an R2 block behind the cockpit.

All the Best to the community for the festive seaon.

  129. rebelpilot says:

    Hi Jay,

I hope you don’t mind my leaving a comment I also just made on Brickset regarding this years advent calendars.

I haven’t purchased an advent calendar this year.

Last year was a first time in a few years and on 1 December and onwards I was dismayed at opening each door and getting the days contents in a plastic bag. This was all the more concerning because of the imminent move of the CMF series to boxes after the scrapping of the foil bags, along with the much publicised but slow move to paper bags within sets.

If TLG is serious about reducing or eliminating plastic in their product packaging, surely 24 separate plastic bags in a single advent calendar is a bit much and an alternative can be found.

If you agree with my stance on single use plastic please make it known when you publish your daily reviews? Because as LAN members you have the ear of Lego, what good is that if not to raise the reasonable concerns of the fan community?

I’ll be contacting Lego myself and expressing the above but I am just one person, I will implore others to do so as well.

    Thanks.
