Review: 40763 Children’s Day Teddy Bear (GWP)

LEGO unveiled the 40763 Children’s Day Teddy Bear, a LEGO Creator GWP (gift with purchase) in late March, but to this date, there is little information about when this super adorable set will be available globally.
If you’ve been following me Instagram, you’d know that I’m currently travelling around Japan (mostly for Star Wars Celebration) and I happened to chance upon the 40763 Children’s Day Teddy Bear at the Legoland Discovery Centre Osaka, and couldn’t resist picking it up for a quick review! Also, who doesn’t love buying LEGO when on holiday!
I’m guessing this is available first in Japan because Children’s Day (5 May 2025) is a big holiday here, and falls during the Golden Week holidays, so given the naming convention of this set, it makes sense for it to be released early in Japan.
I can’t quite remember the exact price of the GWP, but I think the threshold was around 13,000 yen (approx US$90 / AU$150). Do note that the purchase threshold might differ for global markets, as Japanese GWP thresholds usually aren’t indicative of what it’ll cost in the US/AU/UK/EU.

The LEGO Creator Children’s Teddy Bear is a fantastic model, despite weighing in at only 238 pieces, this was a really fun build that makes me wish that it was released as a regular retail set. At US$19.99 / AU$29.99, I believe this would’ve been a big hit just because of how adorable it is.

The set is a fresh twist on the Creator 3-in-1 formula, as there aren’t 2 other models that you can build instead of the bear, but accessories are included to complement the Teddy Bear and to switch up its look and personalise it.

The base teddy bear itself is really cute, and has a wonderfully rotund shape thanks to the quarter dome pieces used for its belly. There is limited articulation on its arms, which can go up and down, and you can also swivel its head around.

Here’s a look at the Teddy Bear from the back. I really like how clean it looks with barely any studs exposed thanks to the plethora of rounded and curved slope elements that are generously used in the set.

There’s also a very interesting quirk in the bear’s face, which some of you pointed out when the set was first revealed. If you look at it from a slightly elevated angle, it does look quite angry like it’s frowning!

But when you look at it head on, it does have a relatively friendly and cute face!
Now on to the different accessories that are included to mix up the look of the LEGO Teddy Bear.

First we have some glasses, and a book for a very smart looking chap!

Next, we have a blue bowtie, plus some colouring pencils and a cute rainbow on a piece of paper!

And we magenta bowtie plus a rose!

Last but not least, we have some colourful LEGO bricks for the Teddy Bear to play with!
40763 Children’s Day Teddy Bear is a really fun LEGO Creator model, and it does a whole lot with 238 pieces. It’s super adorable, was a fun build, and I also liked the ability to accessorise the Teddy Bear with the different parts, which also give it an extra layer of playability.
Unfortunately at the time of writing this review, I can’t confirm when this will be available globally, and also what the purchase threshold is. I’m expecting the purchase threshold to be US$90/ AU$150 / £80 / €90 when available, which seems like a fair price for this gift with purchase.
Stay tuned to the blog as I’ll share global availability and more details of when the 40763 Children’s Day Teddy Bear GWP will be available as soon as I’m able to!
