Review: LEGO 76311 Miles Morales vs. the Spot

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was a hugely successful sequel to Into the Spider-Verse, but it’s taken us a while to get an official set based on the movie. Thankfully, 2025 brings 76311 Miles Morales vs. the Spot, which includes a standout minifigure selection and two interesting models for a US$49.99 / AU$79.99 price tag.

Let’s see if the set hits the spot!

Unboxing

The box has a fairly eye-catching design with bright colours, and a prominent Spider-Verse border art design featuring Miles Morales.

Inside are two instruction manuals, a sticker sheet, three numbered bags, and one unnumbered bag with larger/specialty parts.

The two instruction manuals allow two separate people to build the PDNY car and the convenience store concurrently, which is actually quite a nice feature.

The sticker sheet is quite large which is slightly disappointing, but these do add a lot of charm and life to the model so are pretty important to give flavour to the builds, and bring New York to life.

Build Process

Bag 1 includes Officer Jefferson and the PDNY car in its entirety.

Bag 2 includes Miles, The Spot, and the foundational details for the convenience store/bodega.

Bag 3 adds Gwen Stacy and finishes off the convenience store.

76311 Miles Morales vs. the Spot Minifigures

New versions of Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen are included, based on their outfits in Across the Spider-Verse. Both minifigures are fairly simple, lacking leg or arm printing, although the head/torso printing is reasonable.

Additional detail is included on the back of their torsos, and Miles gets some dark blue spots on the back of his head to reflect his suit’s texture.

A pair of large web accessories are included which can be used interchangeable for the figures. Gwen here holds a rubbery web rope-like element that can connect via bar connections.

2025 introduces a new rubbery web piece that can be bent and flexed to “trap” another minifigure. It works quite well despite being very large.

Both Miles and Gwen come with their respective head and hair pieces, which is commendable. Miles even gets a new double-sided head, but I am not convinced by the reused pieces for Gwen’s head or hair as they can’t seem to get Gwen Stacey’s haircut right.

For starters, her hair colour should be a little sandier, and there are no highlights, let alone her asymmetrical undercut combo.

Officer Jefferson finally makes his LEGO debut, and this minifigure looks pretty good, sporting an accurate new face print. His police uniform looks good too, I just wish he had a hairpiece included.

The Spot looks fantastic, the splotchy black printing accurately capturing the character’s design. Some arm printing would have elevated the figure further but it’s no big deal. No accessories are included for either figure which is slightly odd – surely Officer Jefferson could’ve had handcuffs or a walkie-talkie.

The minifigure selection is pretty good overall – including several key characters – although the figures themselves could have been a bit more detailed. Hopefully we get a movie-based Spider-Man 2099 figure sometime in the future.

Completed Model

The first model in the set is the PDNY police car, which measures about 16cm (6″) long. It’s built around the standard City car chassis, and has a fairly ordinary design.

It has a very rectangular, boxy look, and actually has a predominantly white colour scheme with limited blue highlights.

A pair of stickers are used for the PDNY lettering on the sides, while several translucent elements add splashes of colour for the tail lights and siren lights.

The roof can be detached to access the interior, which is pretty bare apart from one steering wheel.

The limited interior space is justifiable as there’s a 2×4 space to place minifigures, meaning you can fit two figures inside! This allows you to recreate the scene from the first Spider-Verse movie where Officer Jefferson drops Miles off in his police car – although the Spider-Man suit might not particularly fit that scene!

The convenience store is arguably the more striking model of the two, with bright colours and a host of stickers used to bring it to life. New Yorkers will immediately recognise this Bodega-style store, with its vast selection of hot and cool food, and ethnic influences as well – in this case, Tropical Food!

The model sits on a 8×16 plate which is reminiscent of some of the Creator theme’s buildings. The walls are mostly dark red, but as you turn the set around some of the interior colouring bleeds through causing a messier design.

There is a reasonable amount of interior space that is easily accessible, as the build lacks a rear wall or closed roof.

A combination of printed and stickered elements inside the store really help to bring it to life, with a number of colourful items stocked on the shelves. A charming ATM and cash register build are also included, although the ATM being behind the cash register is a slightly odd layout.

A pair of black 4×4 circles are included to represent the Spot’s portals. These look alright but aren’t particularly convincing play features, and look a bit out of place without the Spot minifigure. Still, I commend the attempt at replicating the unusual teleporting ability in brick form.

An ice box freezer is mounted outside the store, and the stickered door opens to reveal some trans-blue pieces inside. This also hides another play feature, foreshadowed by the stickered “ATM” sign above.

The 1×2 grille on the bottom of the freezer is connected to a pair of Technic axles. Pushing this in will…

…launch the ATM model out inside the shop!

This exploding play feature adds a bit of motion to the overall set, and can replicate the Spot wreaking havoc throughout the city as he seeks revenge.

Some studs are also included on the exterior of the model which allows you to pose the figures in fight setups, or attach the web prison piece to depict a captured Spot.

It’s a fairly charming convenience store model, but is also slightly small and honestly feels a little bit odd without a roof included – I doubt interior access would have been restricted much by adding a roof.

Final Thoughts

Overall, this set is quite nice. The four minifigures included are enough for a Spider-Verse fight or play scene, even if the two Spider heroes are slightly lacking in detail. The PDNY car is fine – not particularly standout, but does the job – and the convenience store is fairly charming, although there is still room for improvement.

Unfortunately, the price of US$49.99 / AU$79.99 pricetag feels a tad bit too high – I would accept this set at US$40 max, reflecting its piece count and size of the final models. It would’ve been slightly more palatable if Gwen Stacey had a new movie-accurate wig, or some additional fun details like arm printing.

Still, there’s enough included here that I would recommend this for a Spider-Verse fan, hungry for a proper Sony Miles Morales LEGO set, although waiting for a discount would be wise.

Final Score

4
Build
The convenience store is quite nicely done and the PDNY police car is alright. They’re decent models with some charm, but not particularly standout.
4
Minifigures
The four figures included are all named, key characters which is commendable. However, they could be a bit more detailed.
2
Real Value
$50 USD definitely feels too high, but the set is acceptable at a discount.
1
Innovation
A very ordinary build process that is unlikely to challenge most builders.
3
Keepability
LEGO seems reluctant to make sets based on the Spider-Verse movies despite their popularity, and until that changes I anticipate this set will be fairly sought-after in future.
