 WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Volunteers are the core of the unique community atmosphere at fosteringArts.org. All program activities -- Peeptoad events, planning committees, media announcements, artwork, kitchen help, website  management, you name it -- is done by volunteers.

We depend on a constant flow of people with a variety of skills to pitch in and make fAo happen.  Volunteers get free admission to the event worked at and sometimes get a really cool tee-shirt! If you are interested in offering to help at an event or task, or might enjoy being a member of a planning committee, please call us at 401-392-1322 and let us know!

Art is the medium that connects people.

Our mission is to nurture and strengthen the communities of northwestern Rhode Island and eastern Connecticut by offering opportunities for sharing creative experiences and celebrating our cultural resources. The organization supports educational and social programs involving the arts including visual art, music, dance, theater, folk art, and healing arts.

The seed for this undertaking had been planted in many people's minds for quite some time. The conditions for the sprouting of our adventure took place in January of 1999. Eight people happened to be in the same place, at the same time, when someone said, "Wouldn't it be great if we had a place to gather and talk about art, listen to music, and be able to meet talented people?" Well, one idea turned into another and within 30 minutes a meeting was taking place that got the seed planted, watered, and growing.

The organization was incorporated in Rhode Island on Jan. 22,1999 as a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to the development and support of cultural and artistic programs and events. We have since filed for and received our 501(c) 3 designation from the IRS. Contributions to fosteringArts.org are fully tax deductible. A 25 member Board of Directors governs the oganization. Not all Directors or people on our committees are artists. Many have volunteered their talents in their given professions to help us meet our goals.

To be successful we need you, the community. We would like to give the many talented people that live in our area an outlet for their gifts of talent in music, dance, visual arts, writing, theater, and the many other ways that people communicate through art. Most of us already realize that we live in a wonderful area. Wouldn't it be more enriching if we could offer each other more through the arts?

This is a very exciting adventure that we are embarking on and we hope that you will join us and help to make it work. We need you to help us live up to our mission statement, which in a nutshell is: Fostering the arts for the community. The community being everyone that wants to be part of this adventure. Hop on and let's take a ride. We don't think you'll be disappointed.
