Launch Buying Guide: LEGO Horizon Adventures (2024)

It’s an exciting time to be a LEGO fan and a gamer, with LEGO Horizon Adventures confirmed to be coming to PlayStation 5, PC and (believe it or not) the Nintendo Switch on November 14, 2024. Gaming correspondent Kieron is currently working on his review and we’ll be dropping our detailed review of the game very soon!

As a refresher or for those who missed the news, LEGO Horizon Adventures is the next major LEGO video game, though this time around it’s not a TT Games production. Instead, owing to the fact it’s based on PlayStation’s popular Horizon franchise, it’s been developed between series creators Guerrilla Games and Studio Gobo, in partnership with The LEGO Group.

The game is set to be a LEGO-fied reinterpretation of the events of 2017’s Horizon Zero Dawn, which – with The LEGO Group’s guidance – has been given a more family-friendly spin that takes the original game’s environmental and social themes and brings them to the forefront. It’s also, unlike a lot of the recent LEGO video games, presented with environments made entirely of digital LEGO bricks and takes a huge amount of inspiration from The LEGO Movie when it comes to the look and animations of its characters.

Check out Kieron’s hands-on preview of the game to learn more.

You can see the new pre-order trailer below:

All in all, LEGO Horizon Adventures is set to be just as exciting for LEGO fans as it is for Horizon players, with no prior knowledge of the series needed to enjoy the gorgeous LEGO visuals and family-friendly, cooperative adventure. With that in mind, we’ve put together a Buying Guide for the game to cover off everything you need to know about where you can pick up the game, which different versions will be available and what they include, and of course where to find the best Day One deals.

LEGO Horizon Adventures Editions

While there’s a single physical retail SKU for LEGO Horizon Adventures on both PS5 and Nintendo Switch, the situation is a little different for the digital version of the game. Digitally, there’ll be both a Standard and a Digital Deluxe Edition, available on the PlayStation Store, the Nintendo Switch eShop, Steam and the Epic Games Store. Here’s what’s in each one:

Standard Edition – $109.95 AUD / $59.99 USD / £59.99

  • LEGO Horizon Adventures Full Game
  • Shield-Weaver Outfit (Pre-order bonus)

Digital Deluxe Edition – $124.95 AUD / $69.99 USD / £69.99

  • LEGO Horizon Adventures Full Game
  • Shield-Weaver Outfit (Pre-order bonus)
  • Roller Coaster customization
  • Shadow Stalwart outfit
  • Banuk Armor outfit
  • “Alloy” Aloy outfit
  • Ratchet and Rivet outfits
  • Sackboy outfit

And don’t worry, if you’re picking the game up physically and still want those bonus goodies you’ll also be able to buy the Digital Deluxe Edition content pack separately at a cost of $15 AUD / $10 USD / £10 – essentially making it the same overall deal as the Digital Deluxe Edition.

LEGO Horizon Adventures Pre-Orders And Pricing

Pre-orders are open now for LEGO Horizon Adventures. Being a PlayStation first-party release, the game naturally commands a premium price point on the PS5 – but in this fairly unique case of a PlayStation Studios game headed to the Switch, Nintendo players might reel at the price parity for the hybrid handheld version of the game. Australian players can expect to pay up to AU$109.95 for the Switch cartridge or download, which is more than even Nintendo’s own releases.
