LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar 2024 Daily Countdown

Hello and welcome (back!) to the Jay’s Brick Blog daily countdown of the 2024 LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar!
This is LEGO’s sixth year of Harry Potter Advent Calendars, and this year the theme of the calendar is set in the Hogwarts Great Hall! On the box, it also mentions that the set is compatible with 76439 The Great Hall which is a nice bonus if you own the larger set that’s just begging to be filled with more characters and items.
Check out the HP Advent Calendars from 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020 and 2019 for references into past LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendars if you’d like a refresher!

How does the daily advent calendar countdown work?
If you’re new here, I post daily updates on each window of the 2024 Harry Potter Advent Calendar. I usually post updates in the morning, but sometimes if things get too busy, updates will be posted in the evening. I’ll update this post each day, as I don’t really enjoy the practice of creating new posts for each day as it keeps it so much cleaner, so bookmark this post to come back every day!
Unlike other sites, I’m actually opening each window as I go, and I’ve been able to be relatively spoiler-free to be as surprised as I can get. All reviews, thoughts and reactions are live as we go along, there are no pre-planned photos or thoughts, unless I happen to be travelling or away from home.
Do note that I’m based in Melbourne, Australia (GMT +11) so we’re ahead of most of the world (except New Zealand) so to avoid spoilers, try to come back to this post after you’ve opened your window and built the daily model especially if you’re located in other time zones.
PS: If you’re planning to buy any LEGO for Christmas and would like to support the work I do blog, please use these affiliate links if you’re shopping on Amazon, Amazon Australia or LEGO.com!

To follow along, it’s best to bookmark this post to check back each day. You can also find a link to this post from the home page via a link in the top navigation bar. If you’re on mobile, you have to expand the burger menu (the button with the 3 lines) to find it.

Here’s a look at the 2024 Harry Potter Advent Calendar with the front flap opened. There’s a large Christmas tree, wreath, candles and other festive decorations in the Great Hall, followed by 4 House Tables on the bottom flap.
You count upwards from 1 to 24, so don’t make the mistake of going backwards!

As always, the instructions are found on the inside of each window flap, so be gentle when opening them as you’ll need to sometimes refer to them for slightly more complicated builds!
Without wasting any time, let’s get started with the 2024 Harry Potter Advent Calendar countdown!
Day 1

It wouldn’t be a LEGO Harry Potter Calendar without Day 1 being the titular character and chosen one himself, Harry Potter! This Harry Potter is an exclusive variant and comes with a new torso which has a Gryffindor scarf on it, which is a nice surprise.
There’s also a printed Gryffindor tile on a stand, which suggests that we’ll get all 4 houses by the end of the calendar. The Gryffindor tile isn’t new as it has appeared once in 76429 Talking Sorting Hat alongside all the other house tiles, but if you don’t own it, it’s a nice little accessory.

Here’s Harry’s alternate face, and back printing which sees the scarf extend all the way back.
Not a bad start to the 2024 LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar with a new and exclusive Harry minifigure! Check back tomorrow to see what we get for Day 2!
Day 2

Day 2 of the Harry Potter is a real head-scratcher but I believe that it’s a Gryffindor Statue! I was wrecking my head all day trying to figure this one out, but I believe that this is a rough representation of the Lion Sconce that adorn The Great Hall.

The clue is in the maroon base, which fits in nicely with the Gryffindor tile that we got yesterday. The build is a little rough and doesn’t scream Gryffindor Lion to me, but I guess they’re trying to represent the sconces in the Great Hall.
A pretty okay build for Day 2 but not incredibly exciting. Check back in tomorrow to see what we get on Day 3!
Day 3

After the weird Gryffindor Statue from Day 2, we get back to regular Harry Potter Advent Calendar programming with Day 3’s Table filled with a Christmas feast. These aren’t really Christmasy, but there’s some nice elements like a Pie, Grapes, and also a Cookie and Croissant.

The table and benches are reminiscent of the long tables that Hogwarts student sit on in the Great Hall, so this fits in contextually. Only problem is that Harry Potter can’t sit as he has short legs!
Come back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 4!
Day 4

On Day 4 of the LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar we get another bit of festive decor for the Great Hall, a Christmas Tree! There’s honestly nothing special or particularly “Harry Potter” about the tree, but it does look attractive and I like the trunk being part of the design.

That’s it for Day 4 so far! Check back in tomorrow to see what we get for Day 5!
Day 5

So Day 5 of the Harry Potter is a little confusing, and I think it’s a Ravenclaw table because of the blue table cloth colour, but don’t quote me on it.
We get another table for the Great Hall with some Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans, a cookie, silver mug and a book. The book has a printed tile with a plant and root. This has traditionally been used for Herbology Class, so it kind of matches Ravenclaw’s love of knowledge and learning.

That’s it for Day 5 so far! Will we get a Ravenclaw Tile or student tomorrow? Check in to see what we get!
Day 6

On Day 6 we get our second minifigure of the 2024 LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar with Draco Malfoy, Harry Potter’s nemesis!
Like Harry, Draco come with a new torso with a Slytherin scarf and badge, as well as a pedestal with the Slytherin snake printed on it.

Here’s a look at his alternate face and back printing.

Here’s Day 6 so far! Based on the Gryffindor statue, I’m guessing we’ll get a Slytherin one tomorrow? Check back to see what it looks like!
Day 7

On Day 7 as expected, we get a Slytherin statue to be placed on top of the pillar that we got with Draco. This statue looks much better than the Gryffindor one, and I like the angled wings and silhouette of this.

Looking at the reference image from the Great Hall set, you can immediately recognise this sconce.

You can perch it atop the Slytherin pedestal, and now that there’s two of them, they do look quite good together. Check back in to see what we get tomorrow? Another table, statue or perhaps a student from a different Hogwarts House? Come back to see what Day 8 gives us!
Day 8

On Day 8 of the LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar we get another classic Christmas wizarding tradition with Wizard Crackers! These are magical versions of Christmas Crackers, except that they go off with a blast as loud as a cannon and engulfed the room in blue smoke, with equally magical trinkets inside.
Americans might not be too familiar with these as a Christmas tradition, as Christmas Crackers are a staple of Commonwealth countries like the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. For those unaware, you and someone else at Christmas dinner pull on each end, and they rip apart with a loud crack, and you’ll typically find paper hats, a small toy, and a paper with a very bad joke inside which the winner has to read out. The winner is the one with the longest bit of the cracker remaining.

These Wizard Crackers are a fun nod to Hogwarts Christmas traditions, although I do find it funny that they’re so comically over-sized and are taller than Harry and Draco!
Check back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 9!
Day 9

On Day 9 of the 2024 LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar, we now get a Hufflepuff student with a Susan Bones minifigure. She of course comes with a printed Hufflepuff tile, with the badger on it.

Here’s a look at her alternate face and back printing. Her pigtails obscure her new and exclusive torso which has a Hufflepuff scarf and Badger on it, so here’s a better look. She last appeared as a LEGO minifigure in 76412 Hufflepuff House Banner, so if you missed out on her then, it’s a great way to pick a modern version of her up!

That’s it for Day 9 so far! I wonder what Day 10’s Hufflepuff Statue will look like!
Day 10

As expected, we get a Hufflepuff Statue on Day 10, which can be placed on the Hufflepuff tile pedestal.
It’s meant to be a winged badger, based on the sconces that are present in The Great Hall.

And that’s it for Day 10! I wonder who the Ravenclaw character and what the statue will look like, but based on the cycle, I reckon we’re due for a new House table next? Come back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 11!
Day 11

Looks like I’m on the money again! On Day 11, we get a Gryffindor House Table, which is evident thanks to the dark red table runner.

There’s quite a number of interesting elements here – I like the Wizard Chessboard, complete with a black and white statuette to represent chess pieces. The printed Chocolate Frog tile is also a nice inclusion, as it’s still a fairly uncommon piece, and I also like the glass of Butterbeer which is always a fantastic accessory to get.

Here’s the state of play when it comes to House Pillars/Statues and Tables. Looks like we’re missing a Ravenclaw Student and Statue, plus a Slytherin Table! Check back in tomorrow to see what we get on Day 12!
Day 12

Everyone don’t freak out, because we have some Owl Post! Day 12 gives us everyone’s favourite snowy owl, Hedwig, and she’s carrying a big brown package! Let’s see what’s inside.

We have some sweet treats in the form of donuts! Not sure if Donuts are canon pastries in the Wizarding World, but who’s to say Muggle treats can’t be a hit at Hogwarts!

Very happy to see Hedwig here, our very first animal in the LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar! Check back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 13!
Day 13

On Day 13, we finally get a Ravenclaw student with Cho Chang! Like the other students, she comes with her Hogwarts uniform complete with a Ravenclaw scarf and badge on her jumper, plus a printed Ravenclaw tile on the pedestal.

Here’s a look at her back printing and pensive alternate face.

Cho has been popping up quite frequently in LEGO Harry Potter sets, but at least this version has an exclusive torso which is a fun little variant for fans to collect.
It looks like we’ll get the Ravenclaw statue tomorrow, so come back to see what it looks like on Day 14!
Day 14

As expected, Day 14 gives us the fourth and final house statue with this excellent Ravenclaw statue! This is by far the best-designed one, with the Raven perched on top of a sphere looking exceptional.
I really love the wings and just how dynamic it looks, and there’s no doubt as to what this is.
Here’s the Ravenclaw Sconce in the Great Hall that this is inspired by.

It’s great to see all the house Statues together, and I really like just how large and imposing they look, complete with the printed house tiles beneath them! I guess we’ll be getting the Slytherin Table next?
Check back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 15!
Day 15

As expected, Day 15 finally gives us a Slytherin Table which completes our cycle of all 4 House Tables! This one has a dark green tablecloth, two pearl gold goblets, a bottle, and a jar of wizarding candy, Acid Pops, sold by the Honeydukes Sweetshop in Hogsmeade.

The Acid Pops jar which is printed on a trans-yellow minifigure head is a fun little accessory, and is fairly uncommon, so Harry Potter fans will be happy to add this to their collection if they don’t already have them.

Finally on Day 15 we’ve completed our groups of House Statues, Tables and students! I wonder what we’ll get tomorrow? It’s definitely a mystery now so come back to see what we get on Day 16!
Day 16

It’s 9 days till Christmas and the festivities in the Great Hall continues with Day 16’s Ghost Caroller minifigure! I really like the monochromatic colour scheme, as well as the use of the wide dress piece to give her that Victorian look.
This minifigure is also exclusive to this Advent Calendar, and one that LEGO Harry Potter fans will be eager to add to their collections!

Here’s a look at her back printing.

For those struggling to pinpoint this character, she isn’t a named ghost, but a group of these spectral Carollers are spotted at Christmas in the Great Hall in this scene above.

A fantastic, festive and lowkey fun minifigure to introduce to the LEGO Harry Potter world and an excellent one from the 2024 Harry Potter Advent Calendar! Check back tomorrow to see what Day brings!
Day 17

On Day 17 we get a really cute Hogwarts Express Tree Skirt! It’s quite cute and a clever twist on the tradition of having Toy Trains encircle Christmas Trees.

Today’s build is designed to go with Day 4’s Christmas Tree, and I must say the combo works really well!

We’re in the final week of the 2024 LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar tomorrow! Come back to see what we get on Day 18!
Day 18

Oh wait, another Christmas Tree? Day 18 gives us a larger Christmas Tree for the Great Hall, topped with a Santa Hat!

It’s a bit of a better fit for the Hogwarts Express Tree Skirt we got yesterday and this is what they look like together.

Both Christmas Trees look pretty good together, but the larger one is definitely the stand out and benefits from the smaller one making it look good by comparison! Check back in tomorrow to see what we get on Day 19!
Day 19

On Day 19 of the 2024 LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar, we get a member of the Hogwarts teaching staff, Professor Flitwick, the Charms Master of Hogwarts! Excitingly, this version of Professor Flitwick is a new and exclusive variant, with a richly detailed jacket with fine golden floral patterns.
And for some random fun, Professor Flitwick also comes with a mystery printed Portrait! These new random portraits were a new gimmick for LEGO Harry Potter in 2024, and are pretty fun to collect. I got Sir Cadogan which I don’t have! Let me know in the comments which portrait you got with Flitwick!

Here’s a look at his back printing.

I feel its very generous of LEGO to include an exclusive Professor Flitwick, and the addition of a mystery portrait tile is also a fun little bonus that makes this a particularly exciting day. Come back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 20!
Day 20

On Day 20 we get a Fireplace, and with it, another mystery Hogwarts Portrait! The build is neat, but the random portrait is another fun little surprise that gives something a little different to everyone!
My portrait today is Godric Gryffindor which is quite neat, and it proudly hands over the mantle.

As someone that doesn’t own many of these Hogwarts Portrait Nexo Shields, these were very fun surprises and the designs look fantastic.
Come back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 21!
Day 21

The Christmas festivities continue with Day 21’s Christmas wreath! It has a bit of a unique design and is more of a Bunting than an actual wreath.

The unique design is actually quite accurate, as you can spot this very design in this shot of the Great Hall from the set of the movie!

As we hurtle towards Christmas, with only 3 days left to go, there should be plenty more Christmas decorations to come! Check in tomorrow to see what else remains!
Day 22

On Day 22, it’s time for a Christmas Feast with a Banquet Table, but there isn’t any food! There is a suspiciously large gap on the table, so we might get some food for tomorrow’s build!

And that’s it for Day 22! Come back tomorrow to see what we line the table with!
Day 23

On Day 23, the penultimate day of th 2024 LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar, we get a massive Turkey to be placed on the Banquet Table, all ready for the Hogwarts Christmas feast!
There’s a fantastic line from the books that goes into great detail describing the feast, and most importantly, number of Turkeys, which is very fitting for today’s build.
“Harry had never in all his life had such a Christmas dinner. A hundred fat, roast turkeys; mountains of roast and boiled potatoes; platters of chipolatas; tureens of buttered peas, silver boats of thick, rich gravy and cranberry sauce —”

And there we have it, a massive Turkey to be placed on the Banquet Table! Come back tomorrow for the finale of the 2024 LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar, and a brief summary of how I think this year compared to prior years!
I can’t believe December has flown by just like this and it’s Christmas Eve! I hope, wherever you are in the world, you’re all ready to celebrate the holidays with family and loved ones!
Day 24

Here we are at the end of the 2024 LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar with Day 24 giving us an Albus Dumbledore minifigure! This version of the esteemed Hogwarts Headmaster is exclusive to this Advent Calendar and features him in his ceremonial red robes that he wore to the Hogwarts Christmas feast!

Here’s a reference image, which I think is also a lovely homage to the late Richard Harris who played Albus Dumbledore in the first 2 movies.

Here’s a look at his alternate face, plus the highly detailed back printing, which even extends down to the skirt piece!
Final Thoughts

And that’s it for the 2024 LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar! I think this year’s Hogwarts Christmas Feast theme has been well executed and I especially liked the flow, which had builds and minifigures representing each Hogwarts House.
The statues, and individual Tables in particular were fun and gave a lot of flavour to the builds, and the side builds, especially ones with the Mystery Portraits also kept things interesting.

But I have to say that the minifigures, which surprisingly are all exclusive to this Advent Calendar is the real highlight! The new Hogwarts uniforms with House Scarves were especially nice, and the addition of the Ghost Caroller, Professor Flitwick and Dumbledore makes for an especially memorable minifigure lineup!
And that concludes another LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar countdown! I hope you’ve enjoyed following along, whether its your first time here, or you’ve been following since the first Harry Potter Advent Calendar!
Thank you so much to everyone that’s been active in the comments section, and I hope you have a very magical Christmas and a Happy New Year!
