I'm surprised you don't speak/read mandarin, Jay. Although I can't say I fare any better, especially with fancy calligraphy writings. Even though this year's entry is underwhelming it's always nice to see a familiar face, that is your minifigure persona. Oh, and the dumplings, but best to buy those parted out.

Chinese brands have made much better products. But this years sets are good such as 80117. the best since 2023 80110

There’s no a slice of life -styled sets in this year’s wave so it’s fairly easy skip, this including. However, the snake minifigure is a must-have since I ended up collecting Chinese zodiac minifigures and cultural clothing parts. Fingers crossed they will appear in PaB eventually!

I agree that it’s a beautiful centerpiece, but overall somewhat disappointing for the price. Last year had 5 new minifig torsos, this year only 2. And only 1 printed snake lantern. I’m also disappointed they haven’t updated the red envelope print in a few years.

It’s pretty rickety on the top half, too — the “arms” holding the dangling lanterns rotate a lot, and the panels held by the Technic connectors feel like they’re going to break off if I grab the finished build the wrong way.

The little builds inside are fun though. Also, dumplings 😀

I really enjoyed this build and it is a lovely display piece! Did not disappoint at all and the new dumpling elements made me really happy.

Agree with you Jay, the 2025 Lunar New Year sets were a miss. The lantern could have been very cool with good lighting. I will be waiting until it is on a very good discount.
