We couldn’t that now could we, regardless of contribution and merit!

So much wasted graphics and Easter eggs spent on including their family, partner and even cat. One small hidden nod is cool, but as the reviewer pointed out, the multiple self indulgent nods are at the expense of important STEM ideas, which is incredibly disappointing.
It’s also perplexing that this set clearly wasn’t run by a scientists who would have instantly identified the highlighted errors.

Other than that, I love it.

Does that influence the review negatively in any way, and is there anything in this review that you disagree with?

And even if it wasn’t, it’s Lego. Do we really care about scientific accuracy in Lego? I have 3 science degrees, and personally couldn’t give two hoots. I agree about the popping-out-of-a-book concept being overused at this point. The inclusion of Carver over Darwin, Galileo, Einstein, and Tesla is disappointing for me as a non-American science-lover who had never heard of Carver prior to now. He may have a cool story, but does that put him in the same strata as Sir Isaac Newton?
All that being said, overall it looks like a great set. Thanks for the thorough review.

The only thing I’m not sold on is the bee. It looks a little janky.

Also, everybody watch out for the golden disk, there might be a message from the Vok on there!

About the DNA helix, maybe it’s left handed BECAUSE it is an artificial LEGO build! Also, they found molecules in the Asteroid Bennu samples had roughly 50% right and left orientation. It would be cool to get a Carl Sagan minifig, maybe with a model of the voyager probe and the golden disk, but they already had the old white dude covered. Check out the Veritasium video on rainbows, it is really good!

This’ll be a day one purchase for our lab’s office. (which already has a healthy amount of Lego in it)
Thanks for another great detailed review, Jay! Always appreciate your insights.
The minor errors are a shame especially in line with the other recent quality control issues, though in fact there are apparently three possible structures for DNA: A-DNA and B-DNA, both of which are right-handed helices, and Z-DNA, which consists of a left-handed helix. The latter is certainly much rarer and was identified much more recently, but is thought to have biological function in regulating responses to some diseases and cancers.
A benefit of the doubt interpretation could suggest that LEGO might have been representing these more modern DNA discoveries, though I agree it’s more likely this was a propagation of a common error in the way DNA is represented in media.

Thank you for the details, do you feel more figures would have been better? Or maybe make the set a tad larger and add more discoveries?
