Gift Guide: Best LEGO Star Wars Sets of 2024

With Christmas and toy gifting season in full swing, it means LEGO fans across the world will be hoping to hear that familiar sound of LEGO bricks rattling in their presents for Christmas!

2024 has brought a host of new and exciting LEGO Star Wars sets, and today we’ll look back over the year and go through some of my best selections for Christmas!

If you have a Star Wars-mad partner, a young kid (or young at heart adult!) that you’re buying for, here are some of the best LEGO Star Wars sets from 2024, curated by our LEGO Star Wars correspondent Vaderfan!

LEGO.com currently has the 40701 Ballerina & Nutcracker Scene GWP (gift with purchase) running when you spend US$150 / AU$240 / £135 / €150 or more on LEGO.com from 6-12 December 2024, and Double Insider Points on all purchases until 10 December if you want to make the most out of your purchase!

Being so close to Christmas, many of these sets are also currently on sale from Amazon.com or Target, Amazon Australia, so it’s a great time to pick up a bargain!

Best Stocking-Stuffer: 75391 Captain Rex Microfighter

While the available pool of low-priced Star Wars sets appears to be slowly shrinking with inflation, LEGO has put out a number of quality small sets this year, and my personal favorite is 75391 Captain Rex Microfighter. It comes with a charming chibi-style 501st Y-wing, but the star of the show is the beautiful Phase II Captain Rex with arm printing that was previously exclusive to the UCS Venator.

All of that for a price tag of US$12.99 / AU$19.99 / £11.99 makes it the perfect stocking stuffer for any Clone Wars fan or minifigure collector.

If you’re after a bargain, it’s also on sale in the US on Amazon.com for US$9.97 and AU$15.20 on Amazon Australia.

For the Army Builder: 75372 Clone Trooper & Battle Droid Battle Pack

LEGO released the perfect gift for army builders with 75372 Clone Trooper & Battle Droid Battle Pack, which features all-massable minifigures (3x Phase II Clone Trooper, 1x Coruscant Guard, 2x Battle Droid, 3x Super Battle Droid). Plus you also get relevant side builds (Octuptarra Droid, speeder bike, STAP speeder, and a gun turret) to make the perfect Clone Wars battle scene. No filler here, just a bunch of easily massable minifigures and side builds.

Even if you only get one of this set, it has a fairly even distribution of builds and minifigures to make a fun battle setup, and comes at a relatively reasonable price point of US$29.99 / AU$49.99 / £24.99.

If you’re after a bargain, it’s also on sale in the US on Amazon.com for US$23.95 (20% off) and 28% off on Amazon Australia, bringing it down to AU$36.

For the Minifigure Collector: 75385 Ahsoka Tano’s Duel on Peridea

I am always reluctant to recommend sets like 75385 Ahsoka Tano’s Duel on Peridea – sets which are clearly designed to be based solely around the figures, where the build is little more than a glorified flat display plate.

Nonetheless, for any Star Wars fan who is a minifigure collector, 75385 represents an unrivalled value proposition, with an exclusive Grand Admiral Thrawn sporting dual-molded boots, exclusive variants of Ahsoka Tano and Ezra Bridger, an updated version of Morgan Elsbeth with a unique face print, and a completely exclusive Night Trooper that has some beautiful kintsugi prints. The price tag of US$54.99 AU$89.99 / £49.99 is a tough ask especially considering the size of the final model, but these minifigures are unlikely to be found in other sets anytime soon, and the lineup in this set is truly special.

Thankfully in Australia, this set is on sale from Target for AU$71.20, and in the US, it’s 20% off on Amazon.com.

Best Set for Display: 75375 Millennium Falcon

Few spaceships are more iconic than the Millennium Falcon, and 75375 Millennium Falcon takes the beloved craft and turns it into a moderately-sized, excellent display set.

The midi-scale model has a clear focus on display value that has paid off well, accompanied with a sleek display stand. The price point of US$84.99 / AU$149.99 / £74.99 is pretty steep, but whoever receives this as a gift will greatly appreciate the impressive level of design and detail that has gone into this iconic model, and its size allows it to be displayed on a shelf or table to great effect.

If the set’s high price point is a big stumbling block, it’s also currently on sale in Australia for 21% off on Amazon Australia.

For the Ultimate Collector: 75397 Jabba’s Sail Barge

Whenever an extra large UCS set rolls around, it’s always a special moment, and that holds true for 75397 Jabba’s Sail Barge, which is the first UCS version of the Tatooine gangster’s leisure craft.

This impressive model measures around 77cm (30.5″) long, standing out on any display shelf – if you can find the space for it! It does have some shortcomings – the minifigure selection has some notable omissions, and the price tag of US$499.99 AU$799.99 / £429.99 is definitely steep – but it’s a very fun build that allows you to flesh out a full-blown interior of the Sail Barge. It’s also the 8th-biggest ever LEGO Star Wars set (by piece count), making it the perfect set for an ultimate LEGO collector.

Best All-Rounder Set: 75394 Imperial Star Destroyer

Finally, let’s turn to my favorite set of the year, that I think does a fantastic job of being an all-rounder: 75394 Imperial Star Destroyer. The model itself is the best playset version of a Star Destroyer yet, with beautiful exterior aesthetics. This is supplemented by a well-laid-out interior and a strong minifigure selection, bolstered by the inclusion of an exclusive Cal Kestis minifigure. Despite being a playset, I daresay the Star Destroyer’s exterior design is good enough to be considered a display model. It is priced at US$159.99 / AU$299.99 /£149.99 which is definitely steep, but I think the quality of everything included here overall makes this one of the standout sets of 2024.

The sail barge is grotesquely overpriced even compared to other Big license large sets with way more pieces and they are still lower than this. Nope. Just nope.
