Special thanks to The LEGO Group for sending these minifigures for review.

Here’s a look at the LEGO Minifigures Series 27 box, in the now standard cardboard boxes. These boxes are fully recyclable and there is zero single-use plastic in each box – even the tape on the character checklist has been eliminated which is quite impressive.

While these are designed to be blind boxes, LEGO have thankfully designed a method to tell what’s inside if you’re not a fan of the pseudo-gambling that are blind boxes.
On the bottom of each box is a Data Matrix Code / QR Code that you can scan using tools like the Jay’s Brick Blog Minifig Scanner, a custom tool that I developed to reveal what’s on the inside.
Here’s a look at the character checklist and leaflet, and instructions on the reverse side.

If you’re new to my LEGO Minifigure reviews, I use a 5-point scale review scale to rate each minifig. Here’s what the numbers mean!
5/5 – I love it
4/5 – I really like it
3/5 – I like it
2/5 – I don’t like it
1/5 – I didn’t really like it
0/5 – I hate it
Now all that’s done, let’s jump straight into the LEGO Minifigures Series 27 review!
1. Hamster Costume Fan

We start Series 27 with the Hamster Costume Fan, an adorable new animal costumed minifigure! Animal Costume Minifigures used to be a staple of LEGO Minifigures series but can you believe that we haven’t gotten one since Series 23, 3 years ago!

The Hamster Costume is a great new addition and I especially like the headgear which has a hamster’s signature chubby cheeks!

He comes with a new printed 1×1 round tile in the form of a cucumber. If you’ve spent enough time on the internet, I’m sure you’ve been forwarded countless memes or videos of adorable hamsters munching or fighting over cucumbers.

Here’s a look at the Hamster Fan’s alternate face and back printing. As a fan of animal costume minifigures (they were the first minifigures I collected!), I’m really glad to see more costumed minifigures make a return, and this is one I’m definitely going to pick up multiples of because they’re just so adorable!

2. Wolfpack Beastmaster

Say hello the chase minifigure of Series 27! Wolfpack is back in a big way in 2027 with this incredible Wolfpack Beastmaster minifigure, which even debuts an all-new animal, a Wolf pup! Army builders and fans of the classic 90s Wolfpack faction are going to love this super-detailed Wolfpack minifigure which features highly detailed printing across his entire body, and a great new spongy black cape too.

I really like the overall design, which has ring mail armour peeking out from under his leather tunic. It’s also fantastic to see the iconic Wolfpack Kite shield also make a return, and I hope this isn’t the last time we see a modern version of this shield!

Here’s a look at the Wolfpack Beastmaster’s alternate face, and back printing. His alternate expression is really quite unique, with his eyes squinting as he whistles for his Wofl to come to him!

Here’s a look at the new LEGO Wolf, which is the first time we’ve ever gotten a proper LEGO Wolf, if you can believe it! The closest we’ve ever gotten were the Wargs from LEGO Lord of the Rings, but this one is appropriately scaled.
I do like how the wolf cub looks and its proportions which is more in line with common LEGO animals and the moulded details like its fur tufts and also tail also give it a lot of personality. Paired with a popular army-builder minifigure and you have a recipe for being the ultimate chase minifigure combo.

Here’s a comparison of classic Wolfpack Minifigures versus their modern counterparts, with the Wolfpack Beastmaster and the other Wolfpack Minifigure from 10332 Medieval Town Square being the modern equivalents of the brown and black hooded Wolfpack soldiers from the 90s that plenty of us grew up with.
Wolfpack was one of my favourite factions growing up, and one of my childhood gems was the Wolfpack Tower, so I’m naturally being nostalgia-baited hard by this minifigure, and you know what? It’s absolutely working because this is my favourite minifigure of Series 27, hands down.
With these modern Castle-type minifigures being incredibly popular with army builders (I’m one of them), the Wolfpack Beastmaster is going to be incredibly popular and one of the hardest one to find, much like the D&D Dragonborn Paladin, so good luck hunting these down!
Minifig Rating: 5/5
3. Jetpack Racer

The Jetpack Racer is one of the biggest surprises of LEGO Minifigures Series 27 with an incredibly detailed, futuristic racer-type character.

It features a minifigure in a vibrant racing suit, complete with an awesome dual-moulded helmet which has a trans-red glass that extends all the way to the back.

Interestingly, the concept for this helmet and minifigure design originated from LEGO Vidiyo, and you can see concepts from Jetpack Racer-like character with the same helmet, which is great as LEGO seem to be repurposing the specialised elements and moulds designed for the ill-fated Augmented Reality music theme..

Here’s a look at the sublime printing across the Jetpack Racer’s arm and the side of its legs, with a very fitting bit of Octan (LEGO’s fictional Energy company) branding on his legs. The assembly for the Jetpack is pretty basic, but does the job visually.

And here’s a look at the Jetpack Racer’s face prints, which features a skintight racing suit, and I especially liked the masked version. The back printing features more of the futuristic design with an on-button and some energy levels on it.
The Jetpack Racer is a fantastic original character concept executed near-flawlessly, with a fun futuristic design that makes it one of the most visually-interesting characters of the series. It’s proof that LEGO are still able to crank out unique designs for the long-running series and its minifigures like the Jetpack Racer that can really showcase the prowess of the graphic designers at LEGO!

4. Astronomer Kid

Next we have the Astronomer Kid, a space-obsessed kid with a limb-difference! He comes with a brick-built telescope, and has an old school rocket design that’s reminiscent of LEGO Series 17’s Rocket Boy.

The Astronomer Kid comes with a prosthetic hand, which is a relatively new element that first made in 42621 Heartlake City Hospital. Kudos to LEGO for being so forward-thinking with the design of this element, to make it compatible for both minidolls AND minifigures.

To make the prosthetic arm fit, LEGO had to create a brand new minifigure arm, with the limb difference at the end. It’s a really fascinating element, and a really fantastic move by LEGO to ensure that people who were born or had to undergo amputations can see themselves represented in LEGO.

LEGO of course made history with debuting a minidoll with a limb difference, Autumn in the LEGO Friends theme, and now she has a minifigure counterpart!
Aside from the increased representation options for different body types, I think this particular minifigure arm has a lot of potential for minifigures to be able to have different hand/arm attachment (kinda like Capcom’s Mega Man), and I look forward to seeing this modified arm pop up in future LEGO sets and minifigures.
That said, this being a Space-themed minifigure, I think a nicer accessory, or even a Classic Space reference or two would’ve made it a lot more interesting for Space fans and collectors.

5. Plush Toy Collector

LEGO’s Collectible Minifigures has always leaned into different subcultures and fandoms, and with Series 27 we have a fan of Squishmallows with the Plush Toy Collector! This girl is a fan of all things kawaii with her pink hair and fuzzy onesie.

New for 2025 are these new LEGO Plushies, which are totally not inspired by Squishmallows, the popular plush toy line that’s very popular with kids and adult fans alike thanks to their myriad of licenses and partnerships.
These little LEGO plushies are really cute, and we get a Frog and a Blue Dog with the Plush Toy Collector. These plushies also appear in several new 2025 LEGO Friends sets, so these will be fun little things to hunt for LEGO completionists!

These plushies have an interesting connection point at the bottom, which is much larger than a typical anti-stud, mostly to make it easier for younger fans to place them on minifigure and minidoll hands.

The Plush Toy Collector minifigure design is fantastic, and here’s a look at her alternate expression and back printing, where you can see her hooded ears, as well as a cute bunny print on her arm.
I really like the Plush Toy Collector’s entire design and character concept, which is executed really nicely. Her character as whole represents modern day interests and aesthetics, and makes for a great minifigure with plenty of personality and charm.

6. Pterodactyl Costume Fan

Joining the Hamster Costume Fan is one of a dino-variety with the Pterodactyl Costume Fan. She’s dressed in a sand blue Pterodactyl Costume, with custom moulded arms with wings attached to them.

The headgear has a Pterodactyl’s sharp features, and I also like the minifigure’s blue lipstick which matches the overall colour scheme.

I also really like the prints on the wings, plus the alternate face which has a scary expression on it!

For LEGO dinosaur costume fans, the Pterodactyl Costume Fan is a fantastic addition to this mini collection, and looks great alongside Series 24’s T-Rex Costume Fan and Series 25’s Triceratops Costume Fan! I hope we get a Stegosaurus Costume next!
Minifig Rating: 3/5
7. Longboarder

Here’s a look at the Series 27 Longboarder! There’s a bit of heritage to this minifigure, as the very first LEGO Minifigures Series 1 from way back in 2010 included a Skateboarder, so it’s refreshing to finally get a slightly different board!

The Longboard is a brand new accessory and is a neat little accessory for skaters and longboarders to collect. I also really like the little details that adorn the Longboarder, such as the tears in her jeans, and bandaid on her cheek.

Here’s a look at her alternate face and back printing. The backpack in grey is also a new addition.

The Longboard Skater’s Green Hair is a recolour of Jack’s hair from Hidden Side, and it’s great to see this element still in rotation.
Very happy to finally get a LEGO Longboard, and the icing on the cake is the great minifigure design that could easily find its way into any urban or LEGO City display.
Minifig Rating: 3/5
8. Bogeyman

Another fun new addition to LEGO Minifigures is the Bogeyman, a mythical creature commonly used to scare children into good behaviour. Bogeyman folklore has emerged across many different cultures and countries, through many different interpretations and forms, but I’ve always found it quite funny how they all seem to be used to scare misbehaving children!

The LEGO Bogeyman introduces a brand new headpiece that has a smooth flat face with the Bogeyman’s red eyes and big toothy smile printed on it, with new sand blue horns attached to the sides.

The Bogeyman also comes with a very fun printed book, titled Booo, and has a printed page on the inside with a silhouette of the Bogeyman peeking out.
The Bogeyman’s design is one of the more unique Monster minifigures in the LEGO Minifigures Series and I really like the original design, and the expressive printed face.
Minifig Rating: 4/5
9. Cupid

I vaguely remember seeing concept sketches of a Cupid minifigure floating around the internet years ago, so it’s amazing to finally get an official LEGO Cupid minifigure, and LEGO have absolutely nailed it here.
We get a cute little cherub in Ancient Greek-style robes, with the LEGO bow recoloured in red for the very first time which is quite exciting.

To bring Cupid to life, LEGO have created a new set of wings that can be attached to the back, which looks very proportional and fits Cupid’s aesthetic well.

The wings utilise only a single stud connection to attach it to a neck bracket, which isn’t particularly ideal as there’s a tendency to knock the wings off when moving Cupid around.

Here’s a look at Cupid’s back and arm printing. I really love his alternate face with the big heart eyes and can see this being a really useful face to indicate a minifigure falling in love with something!

The Cupid minifigure will be especially popular come Valentine’s Day and it also combos well with the Love Elephant from Build a Minifigures February 2020!
Minifig Rating: 4/5
10. Pirate Quartermaster

Next we have the LEGO Pirate Quartermaster, a cool-looking female Pirate minifigure that comes with an exciting new animal, a Sulphur-crested Cockatoo! I don’t exactly know what makes her a Pirate Quartermaster, but she has a great-looking unisex torso with plenty of nice Piratey details like a medallion with a skull and crossbones, various beads, a compass and even a pouch filled with gold coins.

Here’s a look at her back printing, and arm printing which are nice little details.

Here’s a look at the Pirate Quartermaster’s alternate face, which has a smile that shows off a golden tooth!
Aussie LEGO fans will be especially excited for the new LEGO Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo, a very familiar sight for Australians. These majestic birds are also majestic pests, and can often be found in huge noisy gangs, tearing up rubbish bins, chewing on fences and causing all sorts of mayhem in Aussie suburbia.
And despite their raucous nature, they’re still one of Australia’s most beloved birds and I’m particularly happy to see more Aussie fauna get turned into LEGO!
Minifig Rating: 3/5
11. Cat Lover

One of the most charming and relatable minifigures in Series 27 is the Cat Lover! This frazzled fan of felines comes with a cute jumper in with a series of cats printed across. His face is also great, with a quizzical “how could you do this to me” expression, after being scratched on his cheek by his beloved pet.

A really fun and relatable detail of the Cat Lover are all the white bits of fur stuck to his blue trousers that cat owners are all too familiar with.

We also get a new yarn ball element for 2025, which also shows up in new LEGO Friends set and is the perfect accessory for the Cat Lover.

Fans of LEGO animals, especially cats will be delighted to get their hands on a new breed, this time a handsome Turkish Angora in white!

The Cat Lover is a fantastic new addition to the LEGO Minifigures Series, and will go well with Series 11’s Grandma, and also Mrs. Scratchen-Post from The LEGO Movie, growing the collection of Crazy Cat Lovers!
Minifig Rating: 4/5
12. Steampunk Inventor

And last but certainly not least is the LEGO Steampunk Inventor, one of the most exciting minifigures from Series 27 that will make Steampunk Fans very happy. It’s great to finally get a proper LEGO Steampunk minifigure and the Inventor doesn’t disappoint with his highly detailed torso full of cool details like a pressure gauge, and even tools from in his pockets.

The Inventor has an interesting contraption attached to his robotic pearl gold arm, with steam emanating from it, a claw and even a pressure gauge on it.

The ornate details, across the arms and even the back are superb as well, giving it plenty of Victorian charm and personality.
LEGO fans have been clamouring for a proper Steampunk minifigure and they finally have their wishes fulfilled with this fantastic Steampunk Inventor.
Minifig Rating: 4/5

Final Thoughts:
LEGO Minifigures Series 27 is a fantastic return to form for the Numbered collectible series.
Unlike previous series where there’s usually a mix of hits and misses, it feels like the selection of 12 characters have been for Series 27 have been Curated incredibly well, with each one having some distinct element or quality that makes them unique.
From new animals like the Wolf, and Cockatoo to the Turkish Angora cat, and to fascinating new moulds like the Astronomer Kid’s arm, and Longboard, there’s just something for everyone here.
My favourites have to be the Wolfpack Beastmaster, Steampunk Inventor, Cupid, Jetpack Racer and Plush Toy Collector!
LEGO Minifigures Series 27 is one of the most well-rounded series yet, and a really enjoyable one to collect. It doesn’t solely rely on nostalgia or a small selection of rare animals to draw fans in, and instead delivers an eclectic cast of well-designed characters that will be a blast to collect.
Here are my top 5 from the LEGO Minifigures Series 27
- Wolfpack Beastmaster
- Steampunk Inventor
- Jetpack Racer
- Plush Toy Collector
- Hamster Costume Fan
- Cat Lover
